I'm not familiar with poison sumac. Here is a post on Flame Leaf Sumac. A beautiful tree, they are available at nurseries. I planted one.

Perhaps someone on the Name That Plant forum could point out the differences.

When I don't know much about a subject I look it up. Sometimes it takes several articles to find all the info, but I urge you to do the same. When you ask for info on a public forum (including Houzz) you get opinion which may or may not be reliable. I did find this SITE, dedicated to poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac—all closely related. According to the above site poison sumac grows only in wet conditions. Flameleaf sumac grows in well drained and dry soils.

Poison sumac is genus Toxicodendron, whereas true Sumac is genus Rhus. Poison sumac does indeed look like flame leaf sumac, but they are not closely related. Both genera are in the same family (Anachardiaciae) which contains a total of 83 genera, and includes other plants such as the smoke tree, pistachio and mango.

Yes I know how to use Google. Thank you. I’ve read all that as well. But wanted to be sure by reading input from people who may know more about this plant.

It looks like Prairie leafed sumac to me. I have something that looks like that in my woods
