There is no proper way, really. (Except layout randomly, not every other plank lining up!) Typically, you are supposed to run it either with the light or the long way. So for you, either option is fine. I would personally run in with the light. Your long hallway is open enough that the flooring would mostly be continous, so that would look pretty good. Which direction are you usually looking? Another idea is to take some pictures of your home and use a floor visualizer that shows you what flooring looks like in your own home. Lumber liquidators site has one.

I am trying to understand why you have to change to perpendicular.

We just installed LVP. From the entry it is south north. We had the option of changing direction down hallways but didn’t.

We have a small ranch home.

@eld6161 That looks great, which flooring is that? I am still trying to find the perfect one. The OP doesn't mean the direction would change, just that it would run the short way in those locations and was worried it would look bad. But your photos are a great example of how good it can look either direction.

Kay, this floor is amazing. Drag whatever you want over it, no problem with scratches from the dog etc.

They have many choices depending on the look you want. Noble Oak and Calypso are nice too.

This is a winter home for us and our time to renovate was limited. I had heard about Coretec and coincidentally our contractor showed us this floor in a home he just finished. Some boards were left in the box under a bed!
