Someone just pointed us in the direction of a chinoiserie digital reproduction - the print looks very nice but we're waiting for the sample to compare. It's about half the price and may wear better with 3 kids and a large dog in the house. Any thoughts? Part of me wants to just do the hand painted silk but the concern is how well it holds up to wear in a busy house. I know I'll be annoyed if the kids smudge it, or if the dog rubs his snotty nose on it....you shoukd see the wall where his food bowl is! There's also the thought that if we move we would be leaving behind a very expensive wall covering vs. a less expensive one. Regardless, I think we were going to shoot for a base color between the wall and the rug so that it stands out more. Since the textures will be different I would think trying to match a color will be almost impossible anyway

Do you have any art that you already own and really love? I would do a grouping of photos. Maybe a symmetrical grouping of 4 or 6, 16x20 size. I wouldn't go too small or with too many. There are also many gallery inspiration photos online. I like the idea of children art and I'm also one that likes family photos and doesn't have an issue with them in public spaces. (Some think they need to be kept in the hall or a bedroom.) I would get some posterboard, trace and cut out some different size art, use painters tape on the back and move it around to get a visual. Looking again, I see you mentioned pictures could be a problem bumping and you may be right. You could do something vinyl, there's endless wall words and phrases you could use. That personally wouldn't be my pick but it's an option. Another option might be a large round or oval clock if you don't already have one.

You have options! An accent wall can be a great way to accentuate interesting architectural features. Pulling the dark smoky blue from your dining room onto the living room wall furthest from the dining room would help blend the spaces while balancing the visual weight of the saturated color. Painting the wall adjacent to the dining room in that color might create a density on that side of your blended spaces. The alternative would be to pull that blue in in accessories. The powder room is all basic white only color is the flooring. I tried to share a photo of the flooring but could not copy and paste. The flooring is 12 x 24 EMSER Swiss Gauli polished. Can you provided some suggestion?
