If those palms were "ripped" out of the ground as you say, and have no root balls, IE, meaning the vast majority of the roots were ripped off, I would tend to think t hey will not make it. Those palms are EXTREMELY intolerant of being moved already, but suffering massive root damage such as what it seems you are alluding to, might be too much. The best advice is what you have already been given here. Hurricane cut those guys, and do it NOW. (remove all the fans, except for the growth spear) If you can keep them out of the direct hot sun for a while, and definately treat with root growth hormones if possible. I would really like to see pics of what the roots looked like when they were dug out, that would REALLY tell the story here and help much more accurately to predict these palms chances for survival. If I were you, I would look into possibly suing the contractor to replace the palms because those palms are very prized, and EXTREMELY expensive to replace. If they were hired to do something for you, and moving those palms properly was part of that contract, and they did NOT do it properly and cause the palms to die, they definitely owe you, and it isnt going to be cheap either. Worth looking into at this stage, because it sure does not sound very good to me, given what you described.

Murphy's Law is alive and well in my home! When I went back to the washer to "re-wash" the quilt with detergent, my washer decided to stop working. After 2 days of DH attemtping to fix it - we shot it and put it out of its misery! Went tonight and bought a new one. Washed quilt - ALL IS WELL!!!!! All markings came out and it is now drying on the line in the laundry room!!! Of course, it just became the most expensive quilt I've ever made - but who counts pennies at a time like this???? LOL. Lots of comments about the shiplap, which is the least of your worries, but I do have one suggestion! If you like the shiplap, continue it up the wall of the stairs. I think it’s amazing how the railing really shifted the stairs from appearing as a mistake to something intentional. It really looks great. Are you concerned about the space because you intended to place something like a table between the island and the stairs? It would be really hard for me to justify such a huge change so late in the game when it really looks great, but hearing you clarify that the changes to the stairs also impacted other parts of the floor plan we can’t really see from the pictures is rough. If this is the home you plan to stay in for many years, and you can swing it financially knowing it won’t add value to the home, I can see why you would consider it. I would be more concerned with underestimating how much time it would take to make those changes.

@tryingtounderstand If you want to be safe, pick a color as close to the lightest tones in your quartz as you can find, so some version of a white. Ceilings can often be a shade lighter than walls without too much problem if you pick the standard "ceiling white" and walls are fairly close to it in hue. Be aware, however, that a pure white can turn gray on you if you have a lot of shadows in an area. You might want to put a touch of beige or hint of green back into the color to keep the white from leaning gray. You have so many other colors going on in your new kitchen that I would be hesitant to take you in much more of a color direction than that for fear of making it clash. It sounds like you've already selected your other finishes, but if I may suggest to not have the cherry wood stained, I think you might want to consider that option. I'm getting cherry cabinetry for my own kitchen renovation, and I can tell you it's not considered a "modern" wood right now for kitchens. Hardly anyone is really using it in substantial numbers, and I've heard that over and over again from many suppliers. However, I like the look and the properties of cherry wood and so am going that direction. Cherry is one of the higher-end woods that looks pretty with just a clear top coat. It will also darken in time. If your manufacturer is discouraging you from a clear top coat on cherry, it could be because they know they won't be color and grain matching your wood very well and thus may want to throw a dark stain on everything to disguise it. Your shadowy weather days won't be counteracted too much by putting such dark wood in your large kitchen. Compared to your old kitchen, the new one will seem darker even though you have a light counter. Even if you were to do cherry wood with a clear top coat, I am thinking you may be unhappy in time with the look of oak floors next to cherry wood cabinets. It might work, but then again, I'm not sure you'll be truly happy with it. Just take some extra time to be sure of these decisions and look up photos on Houzz or Pinterest to see if you can find all those finishes together in one kitchen for inspiration ideas. It sounds like you'll be putting a lot of expense into this work, so we want to make sure you're happy when it is all finished.
