Please help with ideas to reconfigure bathroom
Comments (23)You can lower the ceilings but you'd have a regular ceiling on the first floor. It's not that you can't; it's that you don't want to. Personally for safety reasons, I'd put a ceiling up on the first floor and hide the plumbing in the ceiling. I think a step up into a bathroom is a huge safety issue. I can see the first time someone decides to walk out of the bathroom with some water dripping and they slip down those steps....See Morehelp for reconfiguring small master bath with sloped ceiling!

Comments (15)Thank you for all the feedback everyone! On the other side of the brick walls is a dining room (pretty good size) so I don't think we necessarily need the eat in area. On the other side of the fridge space is a small pantry and then there is a door in the corner leading to downstairs. One of the brick 1/2 walls has empty storage underneath (that probably could be removed) and one has some sort of heating element inside that looks like it can't easily be removed? I can't decide if I like those brick things or not? Initially I wanted to take them out. We are leaning toward: removing the peninsula, installing the DW next to the sink where the peninsula was, making an L-shaped kitchen keeping the existing cabinets, and then putting in a large island in the middle (perhaps with seating for a breakfast nook). We would have to redo the floors and would like to do hard wood laminate and add a new countertop (dark wood) and leave the cabinets white. We are also buying a used set of DW, fridge, stove, microwave and oven (all white) for $500 from friends who are upgrading to stainless steel. So hopefully we can save big on the appliances until we are ready to buy new ones. Think this is all doable for $5k?...See MoreNeed help reconfiguring small, but open "great room"
Comments (24)Looks like rug will need to be 8 feet by 10? 8 foot side under love seat and front legs of sofa? I think that would work and a very available size. Choose a color you like, try not to be safe or matching. When you select a chair and/or ottomans/benches, do a contrasting color and relate it to the rug. Kelly green, crimson, coral, hot pink, teal, sapphire blue......just let the color thrill you. Don’t do brown grey black navy taupe. Then replace you r sofa pillows to work with the rug and chairs. Home Goods has great pillows BTW. Or start with a piece of art for wall by staircase ? And select colors from that. Fun art at cost plus, Target, TJMAXX, etc. keep posting!...See MoreLisa Murray
