Comments (148)GAME TIME....girls were off to watch the ponies again! THE PREAKNESS 2014 RULES: At presant, there are 10 horses running. Rules are pretty much the same as The Kentucky Derby. This time SHIRLEY does not get to pick two horses...sorry! *To Shirley and each of her party guests (if you want to play), pick one horse and put your name next to it. DO NOT PICK a horse that someone has already chosen. *If you choose a horse and it is scratched, meaning for whatever reason it does not run in the race...to bad....LOL! *If you decide to play, please post your pick by 3PM Eastern/12 Noon Pacific on Saturday, May 17. If there are any horses left, I will put horse name(s) in a dog bowl...and in another dog bowl put all of the party guests that are playing.......and possibly you will get another horse. ******If per chance, you come late to the game and all the horses are spoken for, I will have another game....YOU WILL PICK WHO COMES IN LAST PLACE. I don't like excluding people from playing games and since there are only 10 horses and 17 possible OBF players....well, you can do the math....LOL! I will then post it for all to see. Prizes... WIN....1st PLACE...2nd SHOW...3rd And a prize for LAST PLACE if we go down that road! And if you will, as you each pick your horse, copy and paste the entire group of horses with names next to it, so everyone will know who has already been picked. Hope that makes sense! POST time..6:20PM Eastern on NBC I have removed ODDS, Jockey info. So take a guess on who will win THE PREAKNESS . Post Horse 1 Dynamic Impact 2 General a Rod 3 California Chrome 4 Ring Weekend 5 Bayern 6 Ria Antonia 7 Kid Cruz 8 Social Inclusion 9 Pablo Del Monte 10 Ride On Curlin GOOD LUCK!! Comments (12)Our bank, which is a smaller, but stable bank has changed their rules 3 times in last 4-5 months. I have been waiting on quotes for over 6 weeks now that keep pushing us back. Even though we wouldn't fall into the subprime, buy it now above our means group, (we have scores over 750, decent income, have more than the 20% down,) they are now looking for proof of reserve for overage ~%10, as they are adamant there will be no money available to us, for refinance after completion. Keep in mind this is for a one close construction loan. My banker understood my being upset about having to have use my 401k as proof, we have been and are a long time client of the bank, and I feel as even though we did everything right by buying the land first and paying it off, we are getting the hard time becuase of others lack of responsibility and integrity. Two years ago when we bought the land, it was about as easy as can be, at least 25% down, did all the paperwrok and closed in 3 weeks. Times they are a changing. The banker agreed that in theory they are not looking for 20% in that case but really 30%, and if that was the case why wouldn't we just put the 30% down if we had it available. Also it is calculated by the lower amount of either what we are asking for or what it is appraised at, so even though I will be doing some of the work, and a family member and I framing, I still need to submit quotes to show all of that in order to get 75-80% financing. In the end if I defaulted the day I got my CO the bank would own the house at 65-70% of today's true appraised value right off the bat. Thus they are going back to extremely low risk lending. Most other banks in the area have cut their construction loan programs, and I know of 2 people more than 50% through a renovation through home equity, where their home equity got cut, and there is not money to finish. These are not deliquent payers, in fact one had been in their house for 8 years no credit issues, and were doing an addition. It may sound ludicrous, and we were told we were fine everytime even as they changed the rules, but I see that it will affect everyone. I also have seen contractor give higher prices in order to make up for possible slowdowns, while I have seen others give fair prices to keep themselves going....See MoreTime for a new cell phone....
Comments (11)I'll either be getting the new phone from Alltel online or at the Alltel store, so I know the new phone will work with the service. Zipper, I hope you love your iPhone as much as everyone I know who has one, does. Give yourself a little time to learn it! And ask your friends to show you their tricks, if they have one. I can't get one, since I am not going to switch to AT&T. Minnie, my phone is a Samsung, it's a great little camera phone and it's our home phone and our computer connection, it stays here with the dog-sitter when we go on vacation, etc. So I'd like Woody's phone to be a giant step better than the little piece of junk Motorola he has now, it was like the cheapest phone they had and since he was getting a cell phone reluctantly, he wanted to economize. It's a good phone, reception-wise, but it does NOTHING. You can't even download a ringtone into it, let along take a photo. Terri, which LG do you prefer? I'll go look those up! Thanks for all the advice, people! If anyone has more recommendations, I'd love to hear it!...See More*New Lamp(s)* New Console Table* still have time to return..(pic)
Comments (57)No wonder you are confused. My head was spinning after reading all of the opinions! I was following the original post, but this is my first look at your follow-up. I agree with the others about finding another shade for first lamp if you decide to use it. The present shade is too short and it is the wrong style. My suggestion would be to take the lamp into a lighting store that sells shades. There you will have some expert advice as well as the option to "try on" various shades, much in the same way that you would try on clothes to determine the most flattering fit and combination. Think of the gas you will save! These are some guidelines for shades that I have found useful: 1. Match the base  think size, shape, style, color. Your goal is to match the mood of the base. 2. Compliment the base  the shade should make the base look better without competing with for attention (like that patterned shade on the metal lamp) 3. Hide the switch  the shade should just barely cover the switch (usually the height of harp + ½ inch). Try different sized harps, or add a shade riser to fine-tune. 4. Sizing Rules of Thumb: (1) Shade height should be about ¾ the height of the base (2) Bottom of shade should be wider than widest part of the base. (3) Shade width should be approximately equal the height from bottom lamp base to the top of the lamp stem, (just below the socket cap) I like both lamps. I think either one will be beautiful, but I would not use both of them in that room. Rather than another ginger jar, it would be nice to use a different architectural form on the console. I like the console very much. I do not like the metal/glass (marble?) lamp with the patterned shade. I would look for gorgeous buffet lamps. I am thinking wooden with an antique gold finish (very simple, but elegant). These are high end lamps, but use as examples. If you want the console to appear more sophisticated, remove the dried flower wreath that is resting on the books below, and remove the wicker basket with the greens from the top of the console. Replace it with a grouping of three (the magic number) similar objects (candles, boxes, ceramics, etc.) of different height and proportion. Good luck and keep up the good work. I am amazed by your shopping energy and resourcefulness....See More
