Comments (5)I have seen many people put the keyboard (only) in the top of the dishwasher and put it on cool water rinse only, do not run it through a dry cycle the heat can warp the plastic. I have not tried this but as stated if you can not get it to work anyway not much to lose, but make sure it is real dry inside. things it could be... a stuck function key, try hitting all of them strongly, your numlock is stuck try turning it off and on also try that with the scroll lock key, look for any changes in language in the keyboard settings area, check any special keys on that keyboard to see if something got hit by accident and turned on, make sure all the regional settings are set for US not UK, Go to control panel->regional and language options -> Languages tab -> then add the Us layout and delete the Uk layout, make sure it is not set to US Dvorak. It will ask to restart. You might also try hitting the left side Alt and Shift together, some times there are some custom set keystroke combos that get weird. you can also try this to see if it shows your keyboard layout properly goto start then click on run the run window will open there you type osk then press enter try unplug the keyboard, then restart the computer and plug it back in another keystroke combo that can cause mixups is NumLk ScrLK + shift key together this was one of the most common problems I found when searching. open Control Panel, and then Regional and Language Settings. Select the Languages tab, then click Details. In this new dialog box, there should be a tree view with a language (probably English (United States), and Keyboard underneath that. Under Keyboard, there should be US (in bold). Anything else under keyboard, you can remove (United States-Dvorak would be the one causing you problems). well try all that and see if any of those might help, if not and the cleaning does not help I fear it may be time for a new keyboard, but you can certainly go to the website for that model and ask there for assistance. Clean your keyboard in the dishwasher...See MoreTiming? Time To Build New Home?
Comments (12)Our bank, which is a smaller, but stable bank has changed their rules 3 times in last 4-5 months. I have been waiting on quotes for over 6 weeks now that keep pushing us back. Even though we wouldn't fall into the subprime, buy it now above our means group, (we have scores over 750, decent income, have more than the 20% down,) they are now looking for proof of reserve for overage ~%10, as they are adamant there will be no money available to us, for refinance after completion. Keep in mind this is for a one close construction loan. My banker understood my being upset about having to have use my 401k as proof, we have been and are a long time client of the bank, and I feel as even though we did everything right by buying the land first and paying it off, we are getting the hard time becuase of others lack of responsibility and integrity. Two years ago when we bought the land, it was about as easy as can be, at least 25% down, did all the paperwrok and closed in 3 weeks. Times they are a changing. The banker agreed that in theory they are not looking for 20% in that case but really 30%, and if that was the case why wouldn't we just put the 30% down if we had it available. Also it is calculated by the lower amount of either what we are asking for or what it is appraised at, so even though I will be doing some of the work, and a family member and I framing, I still need to submit quotes to show all of that in order to get 75-80% financing. In the end if I defaulted the day I got my CO the bank would own the house at 65-70% of today's true appraised value right off the bat. Thus they are going back to extremely low risk lending. Most other banks in the area have cut their construction loan programs, and I know of 2 people more than 50% through a renovation through home equity, where their home equity got cut, and there is not money to finish. These are not deliquent payers, in fact one had been in their house for 8 years no credit issues, and were doing an addition. It may sound ludicrous, and we were told we were fine everytime even as they changed the rules, but I see that it will affect everyone. I also have seen contractor give higher prices in order to make up for possible slowdowns, while I have seen others give fair prices to keep themselves going....See MoreNew LOST tonight. New time
Comments (4)LOL @ ya, Patti!: see how it ends...because I'm sure it's going to someday. I'll be watching. And 10 is better for me. Sometimes one of the kids is still testing the last few minutes of my patience at 9. I really hope I'm not disappointed when it does end. I feel like when I read a really long book and am left disappointed at page 600. All that time, and this is the best you've got!?! It better be worth all the time watching, and all the time waiting when they pull this whole story together. Or I'll never trust ABC again. I agree with the others about finding another shade for first lamp if you decide to use it. The present shade is too short and it is the wrong style. My suggestion would be to take the lamp into a lighting store that sells shades. There you will have some expert advice as well as the option to "try on" various shades, much in the same way that you would try on clothes to determine the most flattering fit and combination. Think of the gas you will save! These are some guidelines for shades that I have found useful: 1. Match the base  think size, shape, style, color. Your goal is to match the mood of the base. 2. Compliment the base  the shade should make the base look better without competing with for attention (like that patterned shade on the metal lamp) 3. Hide the switch  the shade should just barely cover the switch (usually the height of harp + ½ inch). Try different sized harps, or add a shade riser to fine-tune. 4. Sizing Rules of Thumb: (1) Shade height should be about ¾ the height of the base (2) Bottom of shade should be wider than widest part of the base. (3) Shade width should be approximately equal the height from bottom lamp base to the top of the lamp stem, (just below the socket cap) I like both lamps. I think either one will be beautiful, but I would not use both of them in that room. Rather than another ginger jar, it would be nice to use a different architectural form on the console. I like the console very much. I do not like the metal/glass (marble?) lamp with the patterned shade. I would look for gorgeous buffet lamps. I am thinking wooden with an antique gold finish (very simple, but elegant). These are high end lamps, but use as examples. If you want the console to appear more sophisticated, remove the dried flower wreath that is resting on the books below, and remove the wicker basket with the greens from the top of the console. Replace it with a grouping of three (the magic number) similar objects (candles, boxes, ceramics, etc.) of different height and proportion. Good luck and keep up the good work. I am amazed by your shopping energy and resourcefulness....See More
