I'd go cheap and learn to wear an eye mask at night. You've already adapted to a face mask, right? Shouldn't be much of a leap and it won't break the bank!

I don't get a very good visual of your sleeping space from the pictures you posted.

Would you be able to use a simple room divider in the space to block the street lights?

You could also add artwork suspended from the ceiling. You will need to see what it looks like from both the open living space and the sleeping space. Might have to doctor the back side to look good.

I've seen lots of neat ideas using wood slats that may work for this space. A louver system, or shutters that can open and close would be even better.

There are ceiling brackets and place rod/curtains between the two pillars. IKEA sells curtains that are quite long as well

This would look pretty good from below and you could hang curtains on the loft side of it to further reduce the light.

Love the trim and view from the windows! Do you own this and have free rein to do as you please, or is it a rental with limitations? I like the concept of curtains hung from the ceiling but would consider the effect on your ventilation if you enclose the whole space with curtains that are heavy enough to block light.,

I own the space! no limitations, I am also leaning toward curtains as well for the second floor but really only between those two pillars. Keep the rest open

Hard to estimate the dimensions of that space... . If you're not looking for darkness and just want to filter the light, a wide fabric panel hung from the ceiling to the top of the wall between the pillars might do the trick, I bet you could commission something on Etsy if not through a local source. Or maybe you could find a pretty quilt the right size. Or a great old pull down map from a school district auction .....

If you're looking for more control of the light, it might look more intentional to hang curtains from the brick wall around to the second pillar. Or install ceiling mounted fabric or matchstick blinds?

partim - great suggestion! Any curtaining between the poles could end up making the space look disjointed as it is modern in it's feel. A bed with curtains - yes! Keep to a white frame, andyou can be as colourful as you like with the drapery and it's easy enough to change if you want a different look! 👌

Does the room need to be really dark or is it more that the light shines on your face in the morning which wakes you up? Can people see into the loft which requires blockage? If not then maybe you can rearrange the room to mitigate where the light falls. I'm thinking by putting the head of the bed where the vanity is the light might "pass over" you and be less intrusive.

I would do ceiling track curtains. I think it goes well with a loft aesthetic, looks unobtrusive, and is easy to use.

Seeing your space I would definitely do a simple folding panel screen.

They come in a variety of sizes, can be folded away when you want the view and fit the clean, modern style of your loft.

The other option would be a custom up down blind that you could adjust to block the light where needed. I don't know that they are available in the width you need.

IMHO drapes or curtains won't match the style of the loft.
