Check the roots, either it is not getting enough water, it has roted, bugs got it a rat dug it out, a dog peed on it. too much sun. wrong soil, to much fertilizer, not enough fertilizer at the right time. It has gone dormant. etc etc. I can't see your plant dig it out and start over, they are summer growers where I live and start to flower in Jan. many of them still flowering depending on the species. Mine as flowsered a set seed already. Glad to help if you give me more inforamtion. There are very sharp people on this forum, Species name will be of help, if purchased at home depot, or any of the like stors, or purchased recently, it may have been a sick plant when you got it. If planted in situ, the soil may be sick. It is a tiny little plant in a four inch pot, it just didn't have room to grow and not enough new mix for it to last a year. It's a crap shoot with the information that you provided.

Broadleaf evergreens, such as magnolias, do not keep their leaves forever, they just always HAVE green leaves. I forget the exact timing for the cycle, but I think individual magnolia leaves last 2-3 years, and then die and are replaced with new leaves. This is normal for the tree. Conifers do the same thing, but it's not usually as noticeable when some of the needles turn yellow and fall off.

Unlikely you overfed your lime tree, growsunshine. How much sun does this lime tree receive? How is the tree watered, does it every get hit by sprinklers? Where are you in California, close to the coast or further inland? N. or S. Calif?? Your spots look like something fungal to me. I would watch to see if more leaves are affected. If so, please send more photos, both full photos of the entire tree, as well as some close up photos. You can always try to spray the leaves top and bottom with a fungicide, and see if that clears things up. Check the bottom of the leaves to make sure you don't have any bugs or other issues going on, on the underside of the leaves, that are causing this appearance on the top of the leaves. Patty S.

Okay. This is trouble. It might be too late and since you have pods, replanting might be risky now that we're in the latter part of the season. However, it does depend on your region as mentioned above. I have had plants drop leaves, lots, but managed to get a recovery. Here's what I did: The way I see it, the root system is in trouble. As stated, I had a similar situation this year on one plant - though not as dire. It recovered well and happy. You also might not have any choice but to uproot and clean the root ball. That means carefully unraveling the roots that are bound to the side of the pot. Any rusty, dead looking roots should be clipped. The size of the plant makes it difficult So having someone support the plant while you do the surgery might be required. It's important the roots are wet throughout the operation. It's best to have your soil ready in the new pot so the plant doesn't have to wait around too long. Same sized pot is okay. Make sure the replanting soil is prepared not too soggy, but moist to the point where it is sticky, kind of like instant mashed potatoes when you haven't added enough water. Replant and hope. No matter what, you will still lose leaves. The idea is to not save them, but get a new generation of shoots starting to replace them. When I did this though it was much earlier in the growing season and I would hesitate doing it in mid-August. Re-establishment is always nerve racking because sometimes many days go by without any noticeable change in affairs. But when those new shoots start growing in earnest it is very satisfying.
