Two that I use - my old faithful bagged Panasonic, that is my main one for cleaning (I vacuum the blinds, the furniture, the curtains, the lampshades as well as the floors) and a rescued Shark bagless that I keep upstairs for the bedrooms and bath. I also have a Dyson that I cleaned up and put back in good working order in the basement - while I decide whether or not to keep it or donate it.

ETA: I also have a shopvac, rarely used but I am glad that I have it when I need it!

We have two in Los Angeles, and then we have two indoor vacuums in Cathedral City plus two leaf vacuums - one is battery operated and light, and the other requires an extension cord and is heavy, but it has a shoulder strap. While I am there, I vacuum the leaves every morning beside the pool so that they will not get into the pool.

Of our indoor vacuums, half are hand-held and battery operated. In L.A. we have a Dyson that has a canister than can be removed and cleaned out, but in C.C. we have an Orek Pro 5, which requires bags that must be bought, which is annoying to me, but I overall like the vacuum. It also has a shoulder strap and must be carried, as it is not on wheels. For me, this actually makes it easier to move around the room, as it does not get caught on things.

Three identical Dyson cordless vacs, one on each floor of my house. Plus one Miele on the main floor which is great for upholstery, curtains, etc.

3 A roomba I run everyday, an upright and a small canister.

Five. An Oreck hand vac with shoulder strap that I use for lamp shades, upholstery. A tougher 1 gal shop vac that I use for small jobs where an upright won't reach. Various brush attachments for both of those depending on what I'm doing, have a long soft brush for the grass cloth wall covering in my living and dining rooms (not that I vacuum the grass cloth as often as I should). An Oreck upright at each end of the house but I find the newer of those does a better job on hard floor surfaces than the other which is good for carpet. Big shop vac in the garage in DH's domain....

3. Only the Shark gets used. Also have a Roomba and a shop vac which sees occasional use, usually for water, usually at another house.

I am ashamed to say 6. I have 2 that are a canister type with a power head for carpet; one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I also have a shop vac in the basement, a Shark rocket stick vac for quick floor cleaning in the mud room and kitchen area, and a very old small Hoover canister that comes in handy sometimes I also have a little dust buster. My house should be cleaner than it is :)

2 in the house; a Miele canister vac and a Dyson stick vac. 2 shop vacs in the garage; one for a dust collection system and the other is for whatever, though I hardly ever use it.

I'm down to five after giving two away. One shop vac, one battery-operated stick vac for the kitchen/laundry room, one bagless upstairs, one bagless downstairs and one old-fashioned Hoover with bag. I still like the way the bagged vac's attachments fit without that cumbersome wand apparatus that all the newer vacuums sport. When I want to vacuum upholstery, draperies, lampshades, etc., I pull out the Hoover.

I gave away an early Dyson corded model. It was heavy and not that efficient. I regret buying that one. Every time I start to get sucked into the hype and excitement of a new product, I remind myself of that ill-fated Dyson purchase.

If you remember Scott (and Bobby/Vacuumfreak) who used to post here, you should see their vacuum cleaner collections. They met (I think) at a vintage vacuum collectors' forum or club, which has in person meetings/conventions. I visited Scott in Mar Vista, and he had one wall in his apartment lined up with vintage vacuum cleaners, which I guess doubled as decorative items. Some of them were rather pretty.

Until it was mentioned - had forgotten about my Mighty Mite ---- it must be 30+ years old. rarely use it not that I have a vacuum on both floors. One has the Hoover battery run upright Link. The other has a Dyson (new and my 1st Dyson) don't love the Dyson (yet) but it has a lot of flexibility and better than my recent hand-helds. (The Link has a removable battery so one could have a spare. Hate the battery in the Dyson ---- really wish I could pop it out and use a spare.)

Thus my reply is 3.

Three or four. One for the house, a hand vac most for car, a shop vac mostly for garage, and an old vac that might be in the basement if we haven't gotten rid of it yet.

4 on Tuesday. Shop vac, hand held cordless, corded shark and on Tuesday my LG cordless is being delivered. Very excited about that one!

We have pool vac, 2 shop vacs, 2 home vacs, 2 car vacs. Never thought about before.

No wonder I see so many threads here asking for vacuum cleaner recommendations! I had no idea people had so many.

I'd say we have about 90% of 1 vacuum. Attachments are missing, power switch broke within months (replaced it with a switch on the cord), the levers that raise and lower the rotation brushes are broken off (should never have been made of plastic). We very faithfully keep the filters cleaned, and will keep the vac going as long as it does the job.

I have 2. one upstairs and one down.

I have 3, an up right Shark upstairs for the carpet, an upright Shark downstairs for the rugs and a Mighty Mite. If you prefer simple and easy the way I do, you will love the Mighty Mite! I use it for the floors, it has an extender for cob webs, and a brush for the sofa. I do end up having to run a dust mop over the floor now and then as well, but that little vacuum is the bomb. (And the bags are really affordable!)

Oh my Goodness. I have several but not enough because my upright died this week & need to replace it.

1 gallon Shop Vac that I hate, big Ridgid shop vac that I love, a corded stick vac, cordless stick vac, a Shop Vac that can be hung on a wall (free pile at a garage sale) which I know runs and has great suction but I haven't used it yet....maybe one or two more that I've forgotten about...

I've got two. I bought a Shark a year ago for general use and moved the older Kirby to the basement.

Not counting DH's four vacuums for work I have two right now; a Dyson cordless and a shark animal. I want a miele canister. Probably will get it in the next three or so months. I was hoping for a purple one but don't see purple as a choice.

Would gladly have a central vac as well as I have read that is the best for dust removal. All the other vacs spit some of the dust back. Plus I really love the fact that most Central vacs have a dust trap in the kitchen. I could really use that in my son and nephew's kitchen.
