Comments (7)We have the one below. Dh bought it for me at Christmas, and I was underwhelmed to say the least. I have to admit though that it is the best hand vac we've used and we've been using it like crazy. Comments (28)Yes we know how to use one. Between DH and I we have over 100 yrs experience in cutting trees. We don't use hard hats and chaps though we do wear steel tipped shoes and safety glasses. For the gas one, we also wear hearing protectors and of course gloves. The electric ones can maim you just as easily, but are less dangerous as they run only with your finger on the trigger. The gas ones run even when you're not cutting, and if the brake isn't right or the idle speed set too high, even after you let up on the trigger, the chain can still spin....See MoreRecommendation for a cordless stick vacuum
Comments (18)I bought the Dyson 11 in December. There are pros and cons. The pros are that it is amazing on dog fur. It fills up even when you think your rugs are generally clean. It is also great on small grit and things of that nature. I can see it being perfect for my beach cottage. Now the cons: If you formerly had a bag vacuum, than you may be bugged by how often you have to stop and empty the collection chamber. I have three dogs, so it is usually after a couple of rooms. Sometimes less, but more often than I would like. Second con: It really isn't very good about picking up more substantial items, like, a piece of dry dog food, or a small twig, or a whole leaf. My old vacuum was an Electrolux and it picked up everything without pause. The Dyson 11 is far less effective with that. Third con: Occasionally the filter will clog (the sensor display will tell you.) You have to remove it and wash it under the faucet and let it dry 24 hours. Of course this happens when you are only halfway through your cleaning. You can buy a spare, but they aren't cheap. All in all, the Dyson 11 is a great vacuum, but in my opinion, it has annoying limitations....See Morecordless stick vaccuum recommendations
Comments (15)The first Dyson that we ever bought was an upright model. We were quite happy with it --until we had kids. We soon discovered that with toddlers you need to vacuum various messes several times a day. That's when we bought the first V6. So much more convenient -- and in the end, having a vacuum that gets used is infinitely better than the best vacuum that stays in the closet. Over the years, we added two additional Dyson wands for different parts of the house. These upgraded models are so close in performance to traditional floor vacuums, we honestly haven't used the upright vacuum in a few years now. Of course, we mostly have tile and hardwood floors which occasionally get wet cleaned, we don't have pets, and we never wear shoes indoors. So, our expectations for our vacuums aren't necessarily the same as in other households....See More3katz4me
