I want to really thank everyone for their input.  I showed my husband all the comments and photos and he is NOW  starting to hear what I've been saying for quite some time.  We are going to step back a little and rethink this space.  We were just throwing a bandaid on it, and it wasn't going to satisfy either of us.   I will be back on with our other space that has been under renovation because I need help there for sure as well.  What an amazing group. Do you think that would clash? Light fixtures are silvery-pewter (can change if necessary) and feet of velvet blue armchairs are brassy-brushed gold. What should I do metal wise and will it marry well with burnt orange? I think burnt orange could be good to go with the honey oak trims and taupey floors too- what do we think? @kandrewspa thanks for your input! love the color recommendations. I updated the plans in OG post to keep it simple as well, I think it was adding to confusion if anything, unfortunately the big closet with mirrored doors is not part of the office and is accessible only through a complete other section of the home. I like your idea to replace the curtains - suggesting to also lengthen your rod so the curtains hang on either side keeping max light. I had my desk infront of the window, it wasn't for me so I kept mine against the wall. I have a neutral extra large piece of art on the opposite wall from my desk, you may want to add a piece of art to the wall your desk is on to balance out your (awesome!!) shelving unit. Thinking a chair and ottoman would be nice possibly angled towards the window for a different seating option. You can buy size appropriate pieces for your room and the chair has more options in the layout than a couch. I like the idea to replace the desk chair, you can match your new desk chair to the chair/ottoman for a conversation set in case you have company. Here's my office, not a pro but I find my space comfortable and functional. Good luck! :))
