Dining Room May be finished - advice on windows please
Comments (20)I have practically the identical window in our dining room. I found my fabric and just need to decide how to deal with the rod. I plan on panels - which is what I suggest for you. Find a fabric that is close to your wall color - maybe a touch darker. A solid with a little texture. Maybe something in a raw silk (you can find a silk-look without the silk price tag) Anyway, you'll need to have them made so they don't cover the whole window. This is what I'm going for....and I think it would look great in your space. I'd find a piece of furniture for in front of the window as well -- perhaps a mirrored console: [Eclectic Living Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/eclectic-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2104) by Dallas Interior Designers & Decorators Abbe Fenimore Studio Ten 25 Here is a link that might be useful: mirrored console...See MoreYour help, please, with last few choices to finish living/dining area?
Comments (7)If I could have white or off-white blinds and trim, I wouldn’t even be adding drapery panels. My reason for adding off-white panels is to “lighten” and “brighten” the space. As I wrote in the first paragraph: I am currently renting this 1440 sq ft apartment in a large complex, and I am not allowed to change wall color, blinds, etc. I am working within these limits. Fortunately, the blinds are much less noticeable when open. They were closed only to control the light for the photos. Apparently using the word “bright” was misleading. I’m not referring to color. The choices I’ve made since moving here include glass-top tables, clear acrylic (counter stools), reflective metal finishes, and off-white fabrics in a variety of textures for throws, pillows, and small ottomans. They really do lighten and brighten the space. I want to continue that as I select the drapery panels. I have gradually moved toward a much more minimal style, but case goods that are decades old already had clean lines so I didn’t have to start all over. Eclectic and developed over time, this style gives me a serene simplicity that I really like. [My thanks goes to Houzz contributors as well as local designers.] The New Zealand wool area rug is new, and it took me over a year to find: I love it. It is intentionally similar in color to the porcelain tile, adding texture and picking up every color in the sofa. The questions I’m asking are re-stated below: 1) Which hanging style of panels would give me “neat stacks” and complement my furnishings? 2) Where might I find a 42”w x 21”d x 18”h rectangular coffee table with [a thick] glass top and simple metal legs similar to the EA Ferri ottomans as shown in the first photo at the top of this dilemma?...See MoreHelp me finish my dining space please?
Comments (35)Rachel - we weren't able to keep the floors. The house has in-floor radiant heating throughout, not very a good combo with solid wood. The wood they'd installed looked pretty good in the pictures but in person it was very gappy and not in great shape. We left it in the bedrooms but replaced the floor in the living areas to be consistent throughout...See MorePlease help finish dining room
Comments (34)I put a black and white abstract artwork on that wall to provide more contrast and added a chair next to the bar to balance it a bit. I am now playing around with the tablescape. I may incorporate some red in with the silver and gold on the table. I’m also considering adding some peep and stick grass cloth wallpaper behind the abstract art in either light grey or tan or beige/gold. Thoughts?...See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
