The whole house is SW Natural Tan, was hoping to bring some color into a few of the rooms (office, bathroom, mudroom). Was thinking that a dark color would be ok in the office because of the wall of windows, and it's a south facing room. You think still too dark of an idea though?

We tried switching the chair and the plant, but then, if you're sitting at the desk, you can't see who's sitting in the chair because of the size of the monitor. And we can't switch the monitor to the other side of the desk because then all you see when you walk in the front door is the back of this monitor.

Love the idea of a throw over the chair. And yes, am open to an acrylic pad if necessary. Never knew what this pattern was called!

Curious if you tried the desk anywhere else? It might open the room up if desk/desk chair facing the door so when you’re seated the credenza/storage is at your left?

You wanted fun, try animal print area rug, especially with those green walls, floral chair will add flair and quirky

Is chair a Suzani fabric? do you like the dusky colors in it [idk if sunset peach, salmon...]

I'd like photoshop of rug like this that doesn't contrast with floor / they'd blend basically. There's 2 colors on the walls already.

Depending upon where you live, a south-facing window will get more or less direct sunlight at different times of the year. Your office chair faces the natural light, but if the light is intense you may need to add a light-filtering window shade. I would not use dark paint in a small space. Wait a season or two before changing the paint so that you can assess the effect of the natural light in the winter months.

I would go with a light ( white - beige ) pattern to brighten it up . You have a dark floor a muted color on the walls ...now you are limited ...cheer it up with something light and don't incorporate anything dark inside the pattern .

We did try the desk facing the doorway, but didn't feel right to face the entry like that. Though I agree it may open the room up, being able to look right out the window just feels much better. But we can play around with it more. The credenza could also go against that longer wall, but same view issue.

Maybe? There is texture to it, but I have no knowledge about the fabric. That's a very pretty rug as well. Wondering now if blending vs contrasting the floor is the way to go. My thought was, if I was going to do a dark color in here, to go lighter on the floor.

Your green paint - are you able to "paint the room" on a website? it could look garden fresh. If a muted green, probably more subdued and dressy....?

I'm thinking either lighter, neutral striped one like the Freckled Stripes/Tassel one you posted, though I'm hoping to find one without tassels, or one like the Multi-faded Blooming Blossom one your also found. I also really like the Beige Printed Frame Trellis Flatweave too!

so sounds like something more neutral and muted... great.

I thought this one could work too, solid with a pattern, light color to contrast if you go with a darker wall color.

This picture captures the feel I wanted with this room - which I think is why I wanted the green walls - calm, nature, warm, cozy. I think this is a great solution to me wanting SW Pewter Green in the office. My plan now is to paint the back wall (with the console) SW Pewter Green, paint the rest of the room the same as the rest of the mail level (SW Tan). and I love the idea of curtains and the two tall pictures on the end wall, in view on either side of the desk.

Accent wall - do a photoshop, cause the lower wall of white will be a middle disruption between wood and green paint, chopped up view... could another room have that wonderfully earthy a green in it?

Paint all walls green imo, or remove the lower - but that's quite a change.

I was going to paint the entire wall(s) one color, leaving the chair rail there, but painting over it so the entire wall will be one color; no more two toned.

I put polypropylene rugs in my office and I can easily move my chair over it. Buy the largest size rug you want. The wheels on your chair can handle it - no need for an acrylic pad. I see a 10x14 in there....

re wall color, because you have the white wainscotting I think the sw pewter green would look fab on all walls above the wainscotting, having it on just one wall with wainscotting to me is going to be too busy for the walls and won't give you the effect you want. but having it on all for walls will get the feeling you want. in your first idea it sounded like you wanted to paint all walls with wainscotting the pewter green, is that correct?

thought i would share how sw pewter green looks with white to try and show how keeping white wainscotting with the paint would look...this is a pic of a kitchen, but shows how they look together. do you like this concept? I think it would look fabulous.

That green is beautiful! I think it will be very nice with the bottom wainscoting in white.

I was actually planning to get rid of the wainscoting and paint the entire wall one color. Was going to leave the chair rail in place just for a bit of dimension but would’ve done 3 full walls in SW Natural Tan and the wall with the credenzas SW PG. trying to get my green without it being too dark or too busy. So I should leave the wainscoting instead? The white area wil need to be re-painted regardless.

personally i like the wainscotting with the SW PG on all 4 walls. love the crisp contrast and to me it gives it an updated look. also, you will see the SW PG more if its on all 4 walls vs just the accent wall. if you do just the credenza wall in SW PG, I still like white on the other walls instead of natural tan. to me the natural tan will mute the room. i will be honest, i tend to like sharp contrast with a dark color. i go back to the kitchen pic above. love the sharp and crisp contrast. rug then could be a bit more neutral and muted. if you have muted and neutral rug with more muted walls, to me its not going to be very dimensional. have you gotten any samples yet of the paint? there is a website called samplize where you can get 12x12 samples that have adhesive backing where you can move them around.

I do love the contrast. Currently the wainscoting and the trim are two different colors. So I'd repaint the wainscoting to match the trim and then PW on the top.

I have used Samplize in the past! Really like that option, but usually get too impatient to wait and run and get same-day samples. Though had I order it 2 days ago, it'd probably be here tmrw.

Ah, no. Not sure why you would want to delete them everdebz. It has all been very helpful as I attempt to make this office feel like ours.

New day I see the understated look you posted recently... rug pattern, and shapes like those in the chair.

Possibly the green within your paint might "show" more fresh and clear seen next to white -- don't remove it, imo!
