Oversized front door manufacturer

Any suggestions for manufacturers that can product a 4 ft x 10 ft front door? Preferably not wood or metal. No glass in the actual door, but also want sidelights with glass on either side. The architect specified this size, but I'm not finding options other than a custom mahogany door. Wood is not the first choice in my warm climate! Any ideas?

This will not be a door that is easy to open and close or maintain. 3-6 x 8-0 is the limit IMO. I always use Tru Stile.

Our door is 42“ x 8 ft. agree with Res. I wouldn’t go any bigger either. It came from a Company in Canada. LeMieux or something like that.

I like the 8 foot doors in double doors better than a single with sidelights unless the single is quite wide as per millworkman's suggestion (very tall narrow doors can look off). Our ceilings in the entry are 12 feet so I am glad we replaced that 6 foot 8 inch door in our house prior to our addition with this taller one. The 8 foot doors looks so much better with tall ceilings. We have a fiberglass door that looks like wood. It was quite thermal, so not sure all double doors are created equal in terms of energy rating (we are in Canada and the door is north facing so we paid attention to energy ratings). Narrow is the operative word. It is also a hall from the stairs to the living room or Kitchen? I think the chandelier is where it has to stay. A seating area could be done in the space to the front of the room. Maybe use some great captains chairs until you are entertaining then just pull them up? A side board for serving dishes/formal service would be very useful. I agree a table that can be expanded to fill the space would be fabulous for entertaining. The only item in the previous owner's home I don't care for is that bench by the window. It looks like an old iron bed. I think you can do better.

Screen doors are great, and extend the fresh air season. Air conditioning already accounts for about a fifth of the total electricity used in buildings around the world – or 10% of all global electricity consumption today, and it's use is rising rapidly, especially in the developing world. And there's a link between air conditioning and the obesity epidemic. Sorry for the tangent, but overuse of A/C is a growing concern. I still don't know why so many homes and businesses are air conditioned to 68 degrees F or cooler-- just take some clothes off! Oh, and paint the screen door to match..

Thanks. I wish I had done research on this before, but I assumed it was "standard", or at least available at an upcharge, since the architect drew it in. I just looked up the plans for our old house and that had a 42" x 8 ft. wood door. So now I either have to pay up for a custom door or redesign the entry. The door header matches the window headers, so with a shorter door I would need to add a transom and integrate with the sidelights. Why are things never easy!
