Gas or Dual Fuel 30' Range
Comments (7)Nope no self clean, "minimal electronics/electrical" or what ever you wish to call it, but frankly that is one of the things I liked about it. I have never used the self clean feature on any stove I have ever owned in the last 35 years so obviously that meant nothing to me. The Bertazzoni I have no first hand knowledge of, just going on what I have read here and elsewhere and have seen very few complaints about them, most people that own them seem to like them. Same for the NXR, in fact I have only seen one complaint about the NXR ranges and that one was because of the shipping not the stove itself. I seriously doubt you would have ANY repair bills for a decade or two let alone "huge ones" with either of these ranges, they are both mostly mechanical operation without a "ton of features" which is usually where the "huge repair bills" come from. One reason we went with gas, other than the obvious that they are just way better than standard electric ranges is that if and or when the power goes out for a long period of time like in a Hurricane or Ice storm type thing we can still cook just fine. Just have to light it with a match is all....See MoreViking vs. Dacor: 48'' dual fuel range
Comments (1)I'd look at other brands - Wolf, DCS, Capital, Bluestar although the last 2 have only all-gas ranges....See More48' or 60' Wolf dual fuel range?
Comments (7)i was facing a similar dilemma not too long ago myself. more specifically i wondered if i were missing an opportunity at implementing more updated appliances in terms of power. my original plan was to use the larger, 60" range but i decided to move down to the 48" and add a speed cook oven. though not installed yet, i'm happy i explored every option and considered adding some new technology to my kitchen. the more i read about it the more excited i am about my turbo chef oven. it's all about the options at this stage of the game and they are seemingly endless. my plan was already drawn up when i decided to add another major appliance so rather than change the perimeter (similar to yours in symmetrical feel with the two windows) i had room in the island so moved some things around in there to incorporate it. i already know it will be a very useful after thought. so, my suggestion would be add a couple of pull outs for baking pans on that wall and use the saved $$ on the range to consider adding more updated technology to your kitchen. just wanted to throw that out at you in case you weren't already overwhelmed! good luck!...See MoreViking vs. Dacor: 48'' dual fuel range
Comments (2)We have an all gas Viking. When I was shopping for it 5 years ago I brought the various bakeware I used most into the showrooms and tried them in the small ovens (I use the small oven 95% of the time.) Even though the dimensions of the small ovens were similar in the Viking and Decor, the size of the supports holding the racks affected what would fit in the oven. I had my heart set on the Decor but it wouldn't fit my 9 1/2" pie pan or my 9x13" pyrex baking dish. The supports interfered. I would have had not idea this was a problem by just reading the specs (since only the dimensions of the oven were listed, not the "usable" space.) So we ended up with DH's and DD's first choice, a Viking. It seems that Wolf has a better reputation but it was significantly more $ in the stores I was shopping. I saved myself from a big mistake. I'm not suggesting this would be a problem in your case (this was 5 years ago + I think it was only a problem with the gas models--not the electric ones) but I am suggesting you thoroughly check out the models you are considering....See MoreErin Clark
