Can I mix chrome and polished nickel?
Comments (35)I don't know that I mind that combination: all chrome and nickel sconces. Maybe do a mock-up? Can you order the sconces and have a chrome back-up plan? I planned on using all chrome and had installed a chrome shower/tub fixtures. Then I picked scones in antique nickel, so even though I had chrome in the shower, I decided to do polished nickel everywhere else. Well none of the nickel finishes match either, the sconces are "antique" and the faucet is noticeably warmer tone than the cabinet hardware and towel ring. I'm really happy with the look! But if I did it over, I probably would have just had the sconces in nickel and kept chrome everywhere else. I think my fear of the chrome fixtures mismatching the nickel sconces was unfounded. Chrome would have been cheaper and easier to pick a towel hook, TP holder, etc. Here's a pic of the vanity area. The chrome isn't in this view, but the mismatched nickels are. I think your choice is a bit riskier but I wouldn't discount the option off hand....See Morechrome and gold?!
Comments (21)You can do anything you want to. It's your house. If you want to mix metals, go for it. I suggest you consider everything as a category, hardware, lighting, bathroom fixtures. If you want them all to match great. If you want to mix it up, that's good, too. It is common to upgrade what you do in the powder room and the master bath with a simpler style used in the other baths. I still like brass. I prefer the natural finish and not the polished finish. But, that's me. I actually owned a home that had Sherle Wagner faucets and that huge pedestal sink in the powder room. The master bath vanity and sink were Sherle Wagner, too. The shower and tub had different, less expensive controls. The guy who had renovated the home had pretty much unlimited funds. Even he stopped after the master bath. It was crazy. If I knew what I know now, I would have taken the sink out and moved it when I sold the house. Here is the pedestal sink that was in the house:...See MoreCan I mix color fixtures? Black shower head and gold faucet
Comments (15)I have matte black faucets. surprisingly, they don't show any 'grossness'. water marks barely show (chrome or nickel shows much more) super easy to wipe clean too. i'll also add, "not wanting my guests to share a bath w/teenage boys", well hell patricia. not everyone has the luxury of 3-4 bathrooms in their house. maybe she should banish her kids to a backyard outhouse? I also would mention teaching the boys how to squeegee the walls and door after each shower that cuts your cleaning time in 1/2 I love this one. good luck w/the boys and the squeegee. lol. it's a constant battle. doesn't matter what tile you get, the size, the color of the faucet. with teen boys, it's going to be a mess, regardless. teach them the cleaning basics and hope they listen....See MoreScratched glass mosaic tiles on shower wall - please help!
Comments (23)It sounds like you’ve received some good advice re: polishing your tiles. I’m just posting a comment to let you know how beautiful your glass tile looks! I actually have this tile saved as one of my options for the wall over my vanity behind my mirrors. Q - is there any natural light in your bathroom? If so, would you mind taking a photo during the day so I can see how the tile looks with natural light? I would really appreciate it. Also - and I apologize if this seems like a strange question - did you pick out the tile or did a female? I’m asking this question in order to prove a point with my significant other. I own my house (no mortgage) - so, when we decided to live together, I didn’t want to sell it and buy something else with a mortgage. However, I originally built this house with my ex-husband - so, I’m remodeling MANY rooms in order to make it “new” (even though my ex didn’t really give much input into the house when we built it - and I only shared this house with my ex for about 4 years - quite awhile ago). I am trying to be considerate by not making anything “too feminine” - this tile seems like a good choice for that. My significant other didn’t say that the tile is too feminine - but I‘m not exactly sure whether he believes that or not! I definitely don’t think it’s feminine - I think it’s an attractive option for my accent wall. His suggestions have been simply TOO BORING! I don’t want a sterile looking all gray/white/black bathroom. I do want to be considerate - but it still is my house so . . . LOL! One other Q - what did you choose for your vanity/wall paint/flooring? Thanks!...See MoreLyla M
