Is my Parlor palm dying

Tori Buckley

I bought this off Facebook market place seven days ago (9/23). Named her Jan. I took it to the plant nursery to see if it needed repotted (I’m a plant virgin) They said no. I have not watered it yet because the soil still felt moist. I have a NE facing window so my room is always bright but no direct sunlight. The tips are turning brown. The leaves are curling. I started staring at the stems because it looks like new growth is dead. Because I am new to this whole thing I am really struggling with what is normal and what isn’t. I have an inkling that it’s because my apartment is drafty and my roommate loves blasting the AC. But research is making me stress about root rot and such. Also in the second photo there are black dots on some stems...is this bugs? Is there hope for revival? Do I get a warm mist humidifier or special light? I really don't want it to die.
