What color for exterior house trim of 1920s Florida house?
Comments (2)Thanks, it is true that the sun in Florida influences the color palette! We live in the city of St Pete a few blocks from a lake, so it doesn't necessarily need to be beachy, and the houses on each side of us are yellow brick and light khaki. We do want to find a green-blue-gray for the body of the house, but a shade that is lighter than Restorative may be better given the heft of the house as you say. We are thinking the Sherwin Williams color "Valiant Blue" might be a better option. We don't want all of the window trim to be white, but instead want to find a color that will go well with the white sashes and grilles. We do like the haint blue porch ceilings, and if there is a way to incorporate this without it becoming too busy that would be great. Thanks again!...See MoreWhat color trim color for main interior in SW Wool Skein?
Comments (0)Building a house with open floor plan and stairwell. Hoping for help picking a trim color for my main color, SW Wool Skein. I read that trim should be the same throughout the house, so it will also need to look good with colors chosen for individual rooms. I got a sample of BM Simply White, but would like a little less contrast, without looking dingy. Individual room colors will probably be SW Softened Green, Sea Salt and BM Paris Rain, Revere Pewter, Wyndham Cream and Proposal. Thanks in advance for suggestions!...See MoreLimewashing new house and don't know what trim color to do.
Comments (28)Usually the Fall is the best time to renew the landscape unless you live where winters are severe. I would wait to see what you have, walk around the neighborhood and see what is doing well that you like and collect photos of gardens. You could get some big pots and try out color combinations while you wait for Fall. You also need to learn the shade and sun patterns and the efficiency of your watering system.. In very cold regions, Spring is best. Summer heat uses too much water and stresses plants that haven't established a good root system yet. I like your house and your idea of getting rid of that dark grouting. The verdigris is lovely and could lead you to try plantings that play up that color....See MorePaneling and Trim Same color--What about the Rest of the House?
Comments (7)Yes, it's a really nice look with the painted paneling, and I like your idea to keep it all one color. I had the same issue with White Dove looking too cool in a north-facing dining room, so I painted the walls and trim in BM Linen White. It's a beautiful warm off-white that works very well in a traditional space such as yours. I don't think it's a problem to have White Dove in the other rooms--my kitchen is Snowfall White and it doesn't look bad next to the dining room. There's enough of a difference between the two colors that they don't really compete with one another....See MoreBeth H. :
