Help needed on antique dining room set
Comments (12)I love 30s Jacobean. My parents had a dining set done of it. The old styles............if you hang on long enough, they come back in vogue. I thought that hutch didn't look right. What a shame they butchered the legs off the china cabinet, and I suspect they sawed off part or all of the legs on the sideboard, too to make it low enough to accommodate settign the china cabinet on top of it. So they took a traditional three piece set and turned it into two. The thing is those sorts of things often happen to 'old furniture' before it's hit the point of vintage and when it's gone, it's gone forever. It's still a nice set however. Actually the fancy work over the glass in the china cupboard isn't that hard to redo. It's held into place by what amounts to fancy quarter round. I've popped the quarter round off my china cupboard door and removed mine to clean it up and get at the glass....See MoreNeed help identifying dining set
Comments (3)It's very 1920's-30's typical style....sometimes called Jacobean Revival....but that term also refers to an earlier style too. Veneer, nicely done good condition....price? What someone will pay....and increasingly they will pay more for that style. The dovetailing is machine done, and the label on the chair means nothing...its' the same as the tag on a pillow stlling what it is stuffed with. Price? Depends on if it's in a nice shop where it can sit for 6 to 9 months until a buyer comes along or if you are buying it from someone who wants to empty a house in a hurry. In other words, retail vs. wholesale....and the part of the country matters too. Linda C...See MoreUrgent help needed selecting granite color for Maple Honey Spice

Like most everyone else, we'll live with it for a while before deciding what do to with the backsplash. Again, thanks everyone for helping us deciding the contrast that was best for us. Joe Ps. Comments (13)I think your dining room is beautiful. Your dining room is a classic style. Furniture doesn’t have to be trendy, a good classic style will always look good. The changes you are proposing will be a beautiful update. I’m anxious to see it. We are also moving and my dining furniture is also classic traditional in style but I’m ready to go more light and airy. My days of hosting family holidays and dinners are a thing of the past as my older daughter has a new to her beautiful home that is perfect for entertaining. We occasionally still host a dinner for our one group of friends but it’s never more than ten people and the gals usually use the dining room or kitchen and the guys are quite comfortable in the family room....See MoreRelated Professionals
