Garage exit to basement or main floor?

I'm looking to do a new build in Toronto (north york) and its about 5,000 sq ft for main and top floor, (lot size is 9000 sq ft).

I've seen new builds where the garage exit is in the basement. With this, you need stairs when you enter the house door, about 4+4 steps), this allows you to build a den or study on top of the garage on the main floor.

I've also seen the garage exit to the main floor. Likely easier for groceries and in and out.

Do you think its worth the convenience of exit to main floor from garage and giving up the build on top of it? Basically, giving up extra space on main floor for convenience.

I don't really want stairs inside my house for the mini levels and also don't prefer to have garage exit to basement, but I'm seeing this a lot with new builds in the area.
