design help - slate floor with white tile tub surround
Comments (2)Can you share pictures and/or links for your materials? It is sometimes difficult to envision material combinations when you can't actually see the materials. However, imagining the tiles from your description, I think the combination of slate and white would be lovely. Will the accent at the top of the shower be of the same granite as the vanity countertop? If so, I think either using the same granite for backsplash or the pearl white glass accent tiles as a backsplash would be lovely (or even a combination of the two). I suspect any color of wood would go well with your selections....See MorePics of tiled tub surrounds?
Comments (7)I am not sure how you're applying the floor tile, but I thought I'd share my tub surround with you and hope it might inspire some new thoughts. I used a 12x12 tile on my tub and in my shower and then used the same travertine on the floor, but I applied it on a diagnal. My deck is done in a ceramic tile with my accent color (brown) but perhaps if your floor tile is reasonable for an idea like this, you could find a great complimentary color for the Silver Sage for your deck tile and keep the walls and floor all the same. It's a nice look, and it actually does cut costs since you can buy a less expensive tile for the walls and then splurge on the deck. These are constructin photo's The walls have since been marbelized and the cabinets somewhat finished (the GC is VERY VERY Slow!!!) But anyhoo...just an idea to throw out :)...See MorePlacement of contrast/accent tiles in tub/shower surround etc.
Comments (29)This is so helpful, everybody! I realize I should have specified that I have a 9' ceiling in the bathroom, so it's taller than either the length (almost 8') or width (almost 7') of the room. That's part of the reason I don't want to run tile all the way up to the ceiling. I think it would look overwhelmingly tall and out of proportion. House Vixen, I'm having trouble seeing what you're describing as running bond – unless you mean in the field tile itself. I do rather like that pattern used with square tiles. (I confess I'm getting a little tired of rectangular subway tile absolutely everywhere, which is not to say there aren't a lot of bathrooms that use it that are both period and gorgeous.) House Vixen, btw I love the baseboard+floor border further set off by red pencil liner in that yellow bath....See MoreNew build, need decision quick on Master Bath tub surround/tub deck
Comments (21)I know this is an old thread. I'm comtemplating if I want a tub at all but if I get an air or a jetted tub, if the sides have stone around, how do you reach the motor if you need a repair? Just curious if anyone has dealt with that situation. For my current outdated tub, I can reach the motor through the the cabinet; I have a cut out there. I could do the same thing. But adding a slab of quartz to a tub make for a very expensive tub. Dominique, what did you decide and are you happy with your decision?...See MoreDeborah
