Kitchen Reno: how to narrow down choices and commit?

So here's the deal: I seem to like everything I see and cannot commit to style! I need advice... how much is too much? I love contrast and texture so it's almost like I want to see one or the other everywhere I look in my kitchen.

Is white shaker cabinets with light quartz countertops + gray island with butcher block top + brick backsplash + wood range hood (or maybe white cabinet color and a little wood) + wood look flooring (probably LVP) + stainless steel appliances too much in a 14x14 kitchen?

The two things I know that will be in the kitchen, without a doubt, are the white shaker cabinets and the butcher block on the island. Those are my two must haves.

Are you working with a Kitchen Designer? Because creating a master design plan is a big part of what they do. In addition to the code requirements, clearances, and other technical requirements.

A kitchen designer would be money well spent! One rule of thumb is that, at a max, you either have all one color cabinetry and two different countertops (perimeter cabs and island) or you have one countertop and two colors for your cabinetry. So - choose whichever is most important to you. Your floor can act as a neutral as long as you don't go with a tone that is overly cool or overly warm and the grain isn't too prominent. Your range hood needs to relate to something - either the cabinet color, or the stainless appliances, or the color of the floor. In your sized kitchen, I'd opt for stainless or the cabinet color.

I would tend to echo the comments above. As a Lacanche buyer, I'd tend to agree that if what you're looking for is a "commercial style" range that Lacances don't really fit into this crowd. Wolf, Viking, BlueStar, Five Star, etc are all similar enough in appearance (SS, big cast grills, etc) that most non-GW obsessives could not tell them apart without looking at the logo. Anyone could pick a Lacanche out of a lineup with the others. If that all-stainless, "all I care about is functionality" restaurant look is what you're going for then the Lacanche is definitely wrong. My Lacanche bias does prompt me to ask, what was it about the burners that you "half way dismissed because of the burner sizes?" The Cluny 1400 which we ordered (which admittedly is 55'' wide, not 48'') can be configured with two 18K Classique open burners plus four smaller burners (two 15K and two 11K is the standard). Custom configurations can be chosen if that's not what you want, such as four 15K burners plus the two 18K Classiques. That compares favorably with the array of 15K burners with the closed, or 16K open burners on the Wolf, though it certainly falls short of the 22K BS burners. Perhaps the concern is the desire to have all burners the same so there is no confusion over which one to choose. I'd argue that the array of burners is more efficient and allows better utilization of different sized pans, but certainly understand some folks preference for "equality."

Ditto Fori verbatim on the cabinet decision! I can barely see the difference between them, and if one will save you $800, go with that one. My kitchen has a 45-degree angled wall just like yours does, and I have frameless cabinets as well. In the entire kitchen, I only have fillers in the corners of the 45-degree angle space, and by the dishwasher drawers because we needed to fill up that space. The fillers by the 45-degree angle are about 2-3". Part of that is because they needed to be sure the drawers/cabinet would clear eachother, and part is because our cabinets were not custom and we had to conform to the 3" increment restraint. The fillers were no bigger than what we would have needed if we chose framed cabinets with full overlay doors. Far and away, we gained MUCH more space by using frameless cabinets than we lost to fillers- especially because almost all of our base cabinets are drawers.

It is so hard to catch all the nuances and the real beauty of granite in a photo, but you did a good job. I like the first Typhoon Bordeaux the best (the second one, second). I find the Golden Beach too busy, but of course it's up to you. Since it seems like your kitchen is made up of several small sections of counter, you may want a granite with some consistency, so that it actually looks like the same granite throughout.

I got our sample tiles today, and I definitely had some colors to cross off the list. But, we might be changing our plan... the tiles are more a bit more yellow and less green than the sample board we had borrowed. It could be because I have them laying flat instead of standing up, so I'll get some velcro so I can make my own sample board and play with configurations. We might go with a white or nearly white tile and do the wall in a more saturated color, like Camouflage. There is only one spot where the tile will meet the wall; otherwise, it goes up against the cabinets. So mostly, the cabinets need to coordinate with the paint. I finally got a good photo of the cabinet sample that is more true to color than others I've posted. (The white balance setting on my phone's camera app was non-intuitive!)

No kitchen designer here, we did a full home remodel with no designer. It took some time for me to commit with the kitchen stuff, I also knew I wanted white shaker but after having it in 2 prior kitchens I was open to other looks too. I ended up with navy blue lowers and white uppers after seeing the navy in a showroom. Also opted for the kraftmaid sonata door at the last minute after seeing it in person in lowes. It's shaker with a little something extra. We also used a home reno app on the ipad to see different layouts and posted on here as well as instagram for advice. Once we had a layout we liked we got 8 different quotes, some online that came with a free layout/designer, big box stores, ikea, costco, etc. Our kitchen designer at lowes was fantastic.

I agree with Sammy, Either 2 cabinet colours or 2 counter colours.

One thing you could do if you want the wood hood though is make the wood hood match the butcher block well and then you may be able to get away with white cabinets, two counters and your wood hood.
