Mixing ceramic/porcelain wood look-a-alike tiles with real wood?
Comments (9)I had the same dilemna. I have golden oak floors throughout the rest of the house, but I wanted a darker floor in the kitchen. I would have loved an rustic, wide plank wood floor. This floor would not have matched the floors in the rest of the house and I was warned that the transitions from one floor to the other would not look so good by the saddles. In the end, I decided to go with the wood look tile because it works better with radiant heat than wood. I am so glad we did. Between the children and dog it was a good choice for us. I still have to stain the saddles at the two doorways that lead out of the kitchen, but it will be fine. If I used any floor other than golden oak, I would have the transition issue anyway. Love my tile floor! So easy to maintain....See MoreMore Eye Candy : Should I go crazy or calm ?
Comments (38)You know there are some things that one is not comfortable with regardless of what is being said in the very well informed GW forums. ...and wood and heated floor falls in that category for me. OTOH, wood look tile sounds interesting, thanks for the heads up. I will look it up. What is LVP ? cpartist, I am drawn to the drama in granite, but the Blue Dunes also speaks to me, its so different.... I am going to go back for a second look. and Dan, I just dont think we are ripping up the family room floor unless god forbid its an emergency. ....the floor is heated and it would be a PITA. It might not look beautiful but it feels wonderful when we are in the midst of our long winters. We will just embrace its inner beauty :) I just learnt that there is a new lot of Bordeaux River that has arrived at the stone yard, be back with more pictures! Comments (3)IMO not a choice I would make for 2 reasons first tile is hard on feet , legs and backs if all over a home and unless you live in the tropics not really nessessary . The 2nd is wood look tile is IMO already a dated look that never fooled anyone. So I guess I need to have a bit more info from you....See MoreMedium brown porcelain wood-look (oak?) tile?
Comments (4)Hi Patricia! We live in Houston and are in the process of replacing hardwoods that were ruined in a house flood while we were on vacation (AC problem). We have hardwoods throughout (upstairs and down) that were ruined. I would love to re-install wood floors, but with a pool, kids, pets...I'm just not sure it is practical? Wood-like tile feels like the next best thing? I'm having a hard time getting on board with LVP because of the "plastic" factor but guess I'm open for ideas since it's a bit of a fresh start. My style is transitional leaning towards traditional. Our house is pretty open and we're wanting to do the whole floor in the same finish. Thanks!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
