Comments (19)Oy Vey! :/ Anyways, thanks all for the advice everyone. :) I ended up yanking out the little one last night because it was limp, again.. but the soil was still damp on top. Apparently in that short time in that soil mix it had started to get root rot. It lost lots of little roots. So, I repotted with rough 50& orchid bark (fir I think), coarse snipped spag moss and a coarser soil with more perilite. I redid the big one as well. It had a bit of rot.. but not as bad as the little one. They are the same mix I used for my cym orchid (who also demands moist but airy feet. Then, I tossed both plants in the shower for a nice leaf washing. Today I have to say they look great. Generally after a repot the leaves are a bit limp and pale for a week or so and seem to give me planty dirty looks for a while. All leaves are turgid and a nice dark green on both this afternoon. Here's hoping they improve! I don't care if they flower.. I just want those big green leaves! I really do want these guys to thrive in the same way I want all my plants to thrive. And, I'm used to trying to mimic nature's conditions at least a little bit. I grow several kinds of orchids and as a result have attempted to replicate mirco-climes in my home with plant groupings, misting and trays, lighting, watering methods and plant potting materiel. I will hold off ferts for a month or so, see how they are looking then. It seems peace lilies are one of those plants everyone grows but few grow well. I'll try this method and if it doesn't work.. I'll keep trying other methods till I find a good one. And exoticrainforest, I've run across your site before when attempting to educate someone about those ^%&^#%&^%&^%* 'ice orchids'. I've also seen planted tanks set up like those on your site with peace lilies in the back (leaves out of the water) that did very well. I'm thinking the IAS is much like the AOS. Hobbyists, growers, pros and not.. all with the same goal of good plants and no matter how. I think that should be the end goal of anyone who gets this hobby stuck under the skin....See MoreHELP! Comments (4)Toni gave you some excellent advice!I think she has one that's also as old as mine.16-17 yrs right Toni? Most plants like to be snug in their pots with an inch to spare between the root-ball and inside of the pot, that way, it's not over-potted with unused excess soil that can stay too wet, or not get enough water to all the roots causing many problems. If your plant was in a 6" (what you said in first post) or an 8" pot, moving it to a 12" pot is way too big. Go up just one size larger and only when you absolutely need to, like if the pot is (root-bound) Pot being more full of roots than soil and can no longer hold water, instead, water runs straight through and plant wilts again in matter of just a couple days. If your peace lily will fit back into the 6" or 8" which ever has an inch to spare, I'd move it back and get rid of any of extra soil and add a handful or so of Perlite (siliceous volcanic rock) so there is an almost even distribution. Don't feed! Plants that are not doing well should NOT be fertilized at all, only healthy growing ones will benefit and even then it should be used sparingly and half or less strength of what the directions say. A bag of "Perlite" can be found at places like Walmart, Lowe's, or Home Depot, most places that sell bagged houseplant soil. It helps with drainage because many bag soils are heavy and can smother the roots. Perlite will make it more airy. Peace lilies like semi moist soil, so when the top inch starts to feel "almost" dry, it's time to water. Water it thoroughly all around the top of the soil until it comes out the bottom. Spill out any excess in the saucer afterwords so the pots not sitting in water keeping the soil soggy wet for a week. Keep it indoors if you were putting it outside before. Give it bright 'indirect" light and/or dapple sun but not direct hot afternoon sun or the leaves will wilt and burn. You can also grow this plant in just plain water. Comments (25)i tend to think that the curio cabinet crowds the corner also..but the woods are great together..i would find a different spot for the curio..and some of your other furniture arrangements are a bit odd..esp blocking the fireplace with the table..not a good idea. the rooms are confusing me just a little bit..it seems you have a room with the piano adj to the room with the fireplace? and that the fireplace should really be the LIVING ROOM, and the other area..music room is fine. Myself i would center the rug in front of the fireplace and put the sofa and chair grouping in front of the fireplace..leaving the rocking chairs in the MUSIC room area..do you have a television in these areas? I didn't see one..try the sofa maybe facing the fireplace with the rug centerd..put a red chair on either side of the sofa.. or place the sofa and 2 chairs facing each other on either side of the fireplace with the leather chair facing the grouping.. or place the sofa facing the fireplace with the 2 red chairs on one side and the leather chair and a table and lamp on the other side (probably the french door side).. try the two rockers with a table between them and a lamp where the sofa is now..and maybe the leather chair on the other side of the room with a table and lamp for a reading nook, and maybe with the ottomon if it looks right with it. you might find a small empty wall to put the china cabinet on where it isn't so crowded..or maybe you could put it in the Music area on the right side of the piano wall..with the leather chair and a small table and make a reading nook like that..??...See MoreNext step - fish

Chris... once again I can't remember the gallons, I'll ask Terry tomorrow 'cause I'll need to know. It was dug 5' down, but after sand, felt and liner its nearer to 4' now I expect. I'm not so good on technical things so bear with me... no bottom drain but a side one?. I know there is a handy tap so I can drain the filter (gonna have to plant a small tree to hide it): There are 2 water outlets... one can be hardly seen, but in the first pic on this thread you can see the ripples from outlet one - this is unfiltered water. The second is obviously the waterfall - filtered. New sleepers were used, then painted. Now I have a pump in the bottom pond (no filter), just needed to introduce oxygen (didn't want a fountain). Anyway, in true form... I took a pic, but captured 2 imposters too... I give up!!!...See More- 3 years ago

I'm here with an update! I watered it again u til the water came out of the drainage holes, and it's doing so much better! It's about back to normal, minus a few yellow and dead leaves as you can tell.
I'm so glad and will be much more careful with my second chance here.
