Anyone else watching "Away" (new Netflix series)?

I'm usually years late watching TV series, but somehow I started watching this one early. I like it. I heard it's not getting the greatest reviews, but the fact that I'm on episode 3 says something. The characters show promise, and I like the visuals and the music. I still miss "Longmire," however.

We saw the first episode (well, I came in halfway through), and it didn’t grab me. But then, we are also in the middle of Episodes, Indian Matchmaking, and Rita, so really don’t need another series. Btw, I highly recommend Rita. Subtitled, and not safe for children, but we really are hooked.

I finished the first season. I think I did it in 3 days. Very good.

Watched the first 3 "Episodes" yesterday, in anticipation of tuning into last night's show with DH, who finds it hilarious. I love the dry Brit humor, and loved the "Beverly & Sean" banter. Any event, got busy and missed last night's show. DH was telling me how funny last night's episode was, etc. Thought it might have just been my mood yesterday... So, I watched this week's episode this morning On Demand while pedaling away on my indoor bike. There is just too much "Joey" in Matt LeBlanc. The "Joey" factor paired with the arrogance he plays in this new series, I just couldn't get into it. The rest of the cast falls flat as well. I think this will be a series that DH will be watching solo.

We are now watching Grace & Frankie and we really enjoy it. I find it to be both different and funny. I resisted when it was first mentioned but I am glad I decided to give it a chance. I enjoyed House of Cards; the first and second seasons were great but the third was less than exciting. I really enjoyed watching the original HOC with was British and first done by the BBC in the late 80s - early 90s. I think I am slow to Netflix but from what I have seen, it's kinda great. We also watched The Paradise which was just OK but we discovered it when we searched for more shows with the actress who is the daughter of Celia in Last Tango, Sarah Lancashire. We found that she was also in Happy Valley which we watched and thought it was very good. Lots and lots of great stuff on Netflix. Have fun and enjoy.

The castigation can end over the wrong word choice. A quick word choice perhaps better replaced with something else. Let's call it an "annoying, unwanted nickname" that for whatever reason is disliked. Your name is Allison, you hate being called Ally, and your siblings do so when they want to annoy you. I think that's what's happened in this thread. I didn't make up the issue, it's there. I pointed out that it was odd for a local to use it. Those making a weak and childish effort to be annoying by insisting on finding multiple instances of use (that everyone knows about) are welcome to do so. It's not particularly clever but the word doesn't bother me. Call me Ally if you want. Like most people around here, I don't use "Frisco". If you want to, go ahead. What is annoying is people making an effort to be annoying.

Well, I tried it on Hulu last night and it wasn't my cup of tea ;-0 I didn't know what to expect, but that awkward, slapstick, mug for the camera type humor doesn't appeal to me at all and kind of makes me cringe. Not a fan of many British slapstick humor shows, but know some people LOVE them! Glad I tried it, however, because I do like her!

Yes--we've already watched the whole first season. We really enjoyed it, as it was something different than we normally watch. I thought the character development was well done, and it definitely kept our interest. Sure hope there is a season 2. I think there probably will be--they can't leave us hanging like that, can they??

Alisande--we're like you in that we are usually waaaay late in watching a TV series. We are on season 8 of NCIS!

Tvq1, I think we're in the same league. I'm on Season 2 of Gilmore Girls. lol
