my current house had all antique white walls and trim... the different finishes (matte and semi gloss) give them a different look even tho they're the same color. I think it looks nice, tho I like color so am repainting many of the walls. I am not a bright white trim fan, but a bright white would provide a fair amount of contrast if that's what you're looking for...

Doors are as window casings, baseboards and DOOR casings, and the sheen usually satin. The only exception that comes to mind? A wood door perhaps, or a door painted black. That's it. If you want trim same as wall color, you elevate the sheen. Of that trim. If the base skirts are hideous, and the rest of the trim is not hideous: Treat the base skirt as wall with same color and sheen, and change color AND sheen on ALL the rest of the trim, to include window casing, door casing and the door itself.

That was a helpful video nhb22 - I think the big question is can this space support light or dark cabinets? If you go light you can do COLOR on the wall. If you do dark cabinets you will want to go LIGHT on the wall (white /no color). If you did seasalt in LR and are happy with it it may need the kitchen area in a light white to balance that / make it all make sense and not be an overload of bluish green colors that are close in tones. I would argue that that dark gray cabinet is NOT a good family member to sea salt walls right near it. Why not stay on the sea salt color flute and go with something like SW Retreat or Pewter Green for the kitchen cabinets? Then you are staying within a family of colors. Origami white on the walls AND the uppers and soffit in the kitchen would compliment the Retreat / Pewter Green color and make the kitchen not too heavy and dark. Check it out.

@Beth H. :@Flo Mangan Yes, exactly what Beth said. I think it looks great but I am afraid Alabaster will look yellow next to the bright white cabinets but I agree - I can always use different light temperature to make it look less warm! Also I'm totally open to other Sherwin Williams white paint if anyone has other suggestions. I'll also ask if I could potentially use BM paints and try Simply White but if it's very similar to Pure White, it might not work in my house cause Pure White looks blue. Simply White may not though as it has yellow undertones. Not sure if this makes a difference or not but the contract says the walls will be a satin finish? Do you think that reflectiveness would make it look brighter?
