I've looked around at several tile places and haven't found anything I like yet. I saw Sonoma tiles in Bossy Grey, but I'm in Canada. I haven't decided on paint because I'd like to get the back splash done first. I'd appreciate looking at your kitchens for inspiration. Pinterest doesn't allow me to interact as well as Houzz does! I found some options from Lowes in your price range that would look good with your materials and have enough contrast not to look too beige. You can order them online and pick them up at your local store for no charge. Big box stores can be great places to find a good tile value. And I love that you can buy 3 or 4 sheets of tile, bring them home to see if they look good, and return them if they don't. Here's your space. Tile options start below. My favorite is the lantern tile. The hexagonal tiles are a very sexy look, but I'm not sure you have enough height in your bs. The glass and stone mosaic is a subtle look, but it has a nice level of contrast. The marble mosaic might look a little busy, but the colors are good. I hope these are helpful.

Are you opposed to pulling a nice light color out of your granite? Galley kitchens are my favorite. I would probably choose a pale colored tile- either a regular subway or a square tile- and lay the tile in a grid pattern, not brick. I am a bit bored of brick pattern and grid has been used in the past as well. So those are my two cents. Good luck with your kitchen. The elements sound lovely.

Okay. My 2 cents. It appears that the dining room is a bit squishy. Lots of big furniture. My thought would be to remove the sideboard, put a banquette along the wall and shift the dining table over. This is a tad fancier then what you are going for but this is right beside a kitchen peninsula...same layout. I think they shifted the chandelier over so it is centred with the table. If you search for "banquette dining" on PINTEREST you'll get lots of inspiration. Just a thought to give you more breathing room if desired. :) The balance between the beautiful banquet and the open chairs would be perfect (in your style).
