what a fabulous space and love your style. I don't think much really needs to be done, but maybe just a couple tweeks... a few thoughts. I might consider moving the two swivel chairs forward onto the rug more so they are closer to the chaise and sofa. maybe as well move the round side table that is currently in the corner next to the window seat in front of the chaise. not sure if the table will be too tall for that spot but to me tbe chaise needs a little table next to it for a bit more function. finally I would style the coffee table and the shelving unit to give some more personality to the space. do you have a couple large coffee table books you could stack and then add a vase on top with some greenery or flowers. or maybe a large tray and then add a vase with flowers and a couple smaller books with a cute object on it. a couple inspiration pics

From what I can discern, you seem to be off to a great start. I don’t intend to be snarky, but need to point out the obvious- turn some lights on! As shown above the room appears flat and cold. Put the table lamp on a timer and put an LED bulb in it. Perhaps you need more lighting. I think I would also turn the coffee table so it is parallel to the long couch on the wall. At the very least, repost your photos with the lights on so that the very talented folks on these forums can see the colors and textures in your room.

Thanks, Theresa. I see what you mean about the chase needing more functionality and pulling the chairs in! The space is pretty big and there is actually a lot of space behind the couch. So spacing the furniture out was me trying to utilize the space properly!

should have mentioned too that you want to put the front legs of the sofas and chaise on the rug. that will help make the grouping a bit more cozy feeling.

its ok to have space behind the grouping. it will be nice for the traffic pattern to go around the grouping vs through the grouping.

Very nice! Gorgeous view! As the poster above said lighting seems to be an issue. I would pull front furniture legs on the rug.

I would actually move the chaise more into the window and add some plants near the window. A nice palm or fern maybe.

I meant the other furniture to move front legs onto rug (chairs, sofa). The chaise I would move closer to the window. I could imagine with that beautiful view, it would be a great place to enjoy a coffee or cocktail or read.

maybe move the entire grouping just a bit closer to the window, meaning move the rug and all the furniture so that the chaise stays very close to the window but the whole grouping stays closer together as a whole. it wouldn't move much but just enough so the front legs of can be placed on the rug several inches

how about an arched floor lamp that goes over the chaise, would be a sculptural type look and will help draw the eye to the view...

As mentioned, make the space look inviting with the furniture grouped so that you can all sit on it together for conversation. Right now they are too pulled apart. Depending on all the furniture you may want one large group and a small second sitting area.

If the room feels too open on top (can't tell from pics) consider two chandeliers to give overall light and make the room more cohesive.

Love the ideas of moving the furniture to make it a bit more comfortable looking and adding functionality to some of the seating. It just looks a little bland to me.

wow about the 🔥!!! stay safe. so when you say bland, to me that says you want a little more color or texture and to me it also means accessorizing? your shelving unit and coffee table are pretty empty, would you like to work on the shelf unit styling? heres some pillows that have pattern and a bit more color. you could bring in basically any color you like as you have a very neutral room. i could see block print pillows of several different patterns that kind of gives a boho feeling to the room.

Is that your TV on the fireplace hearth? I was thinking it could be fun to try your chaise facing the fireplace creating one sitting area. The TV could be moved to the wall where the shelving currently resides. Move the shelving unit to the wall opposite. Move the sofas, barrel chairs and rug a bit farther away from the fireplace (closer to the new TV location). Sofas in L formation with backs against windows and chairs with backs to fireplace but angled a bit for more relaxed look. Phew. That was a lot. Just feel the large space needs to be broken into two areas for more cozy feeling. You have a beautiful house and great furniture!

The lighting looks much better. The arc light sounds great though!

Think about pulling colors from the large piece of art.

a couple of nubby throws in a neutral or accent color would be nice.

if you want to be able to change the pillows/throws up places like world market or even home goods, IKEA are inexpensive but you can find great deals.

I got clearance outdoor pillows from a big box store that I use for spring and summer In our family room. And then I have others I use for fall, more expensive and some I made for holiday season; an interesting plaid that is interesting with my mid mod/ bohemian feel.

And remember it can evolve; you have a great eye.

Thank you Theresa, Anne, lisalane and everyone! Some of my favorite suggestions are making the furniture more functional, adding color through pillows and beefing up the shelving decor.

It'll will be fun to move the furniture around (which isn't as easy because of the floor scratching) and see if breaking the room up is better.

I LOVE the fireplace idea, adding a special piece of art and the arch floor lamp! The fireplace definitely needs updating from a painted 70's lava rock.

The one item that doesn't appear to belong in this room is the chaise. I would move everything closer to the windows on the right so the room has some "breathing space"
