It is our local farm share so maybe the driver turned onto the next street over when GPS says 'you have reached your destination'.

Oh so wish they took pics of the delivery home door like some do. (they could delete at the end of the day).

No way to direct contact the driver right away, grrr. Had to log onto the website, then they did not answer their phone. E-mail took an hour for a response. I could have caught the driver within minutes.

Have a good plan. If the home that received it does not kindly deliver to me, I will take a pic of both my doors and maybe the street over with the same home #. I'm sure the driver will know the home since ours has the folding table and cleaning junk right in front of the side door. 2 fifty yr old Japanese maples by the front door that need a bit of ducking under in heavy rain...red door.

I so hope if it is this other home that they get it to me soon. It does have dry ice.

The first mystery was the Palouse WA beans. 25 pounds. It also said left at door but I missed that e-mail by a few days. Never expected to get such fast free delivery. That was never solved but feels similar. (they re-sent so fast I thought it was the first missing order). First order never materialized. Waited for the re-send to donate but I was confused. It was not lost in transit. It was delivered maybe next street over and they kept it. That delivery is just a guess.

I gave that one another week being dried beans and some get wrong mail sometimes and get around to it eventually.

Hoping for the best. Very safe respectful neighborhood. Expensive order since we only get every three months. We are in big forest lots so have never met that block over.

Pissed as it has dinner plans. Scrambling in the freezer now but many back-ups.

Bummer. I don't like creep situations. When the rain lets up I'll take a walk with a pup and look-see. Snap a pic. Ick if the delivery person recognizes it as the home he delivered to. Hoping for a best scenario outcome.

GPS stops 1/2 mile down our gravel road "you have reached ...) and then the driver doesn't want to find mailbox number and/or is afraid that he will get stuck and not be able to turn around once he got up our 1/4 mile gravel driveway then down across the creek and up the hill through the woods. Have to explain all that and that there is an acre to turn around in at the top of our 25. So many packages have ended up in/near our mailbox and since we can't see it from our house I have to go search. GPS is not accurate for rural deliveries!! Grrrr. I even had to call the fire station when we first built here so that they would come. He was afraid the ladder truck wouldn't make it over the culvert (stream) and then up the hill. The captain had to drive it to verify but did make a notation if we ever did need help. So after 17 years here we haven't had to call, as she knocks on wood. Luckily our food delivery people read our delivery instructions and have had no problem at all - imagine defrosted foods and inquisitive critters.!

What if the delivery person recognizes the house one street over as the home. (Our streets are named by trees. All dead ends with first home starting with #1) Only 6-8 homes on each long street spread apart in the forest.

IF they accepted the bean order, and kept it, and try to keep this? Is it not a crime. (don't even want to go there....we do not like confrontation...) And would not confront. Just leave a note in their mailbox and the photos that they are less than savory. Not honest, not kind, and not neighborly.

A bit dumb to think we were not waiting for this delivery and would pursue the mystery.

That is what we assumed about the bean order carol. Palouse accepted the 'glitch' scenario.

This company is small-ish. Private delivery vans. Not big UPS, Fed-X, etc.

If insta-cart, where you have direct texts with your shopper/delivery, you can immediately say, within minutes, that the delivery location is wrong. (only used that once and recently)

Delivery has been really good via text or e-mail theses days. We even get photo e-mails of our mail sent/delivered.

I do find it odd to get an e-mail that delivery was left at door via fed-x and it is not there. Happened a few years ago and we were confused. About to send a neighborhood letter about missing packages. DH was expecting his annual Levi jeans....our neighbor had them for over a week and just forgot, 😂

The meat share, Waldon, just called and will make good on the mistake delivery, but he was just here supposedly at my door this am 11.48. Doubt he kept it for his/her self and playing stupid. Maybe embarrassed he got the address wrong?.

If he/she, most likely delivered as this company does, and why would he not, as a small business...makes an address mistake, at great expense, I want to know to help this succeed without expense they need to cover themselves.

We will not go there. We apologize for your experience that was less than our service we take pride in excell. If a neighbor is not friendly or compliant lets move on....my words but similar sentiments.

Companies have standards and I need to calm down. They do not want to get involved in something criminal....but still is frustrating.

I'll decide later if I will send neighborly note about deliveries. To all and not single out the bad seed.

That is so not fun, sorry to hear. I order a lot from Amazon and one day I got an email that my delivery couldn't be made because UPS needed more info. They deliver here all the time. That was just infuriating. Anyhow, I hope your delivery shows up soon.

Businesses expect a bit of this. But 150 dollars now is not what I support taking away from good hard working farmers. And maybe a neighbor. A business local and such a good service.

Seems it happens so rarely they expect a few bad seeds.

I have to do something locally, in the neighborhood. As simple as a note in mailboxes that deliveries are wack. Randomly. We shall see.

It is possible that no one is home. It is Labor Day weekend coming up and around here a lot are not home. They could be at work. It could also be that they never go out the door the package was left at. Unless I am expecting a delivery, I never go out the front door and would not see a package.

Have to also wonder about a dishonest deliveree keeping a mistaken delivery, but to be fair, as Sherry points out, if it was dropped off and didn't need a signature, it might go unnoticed.

I was actually thinking of Instacart when I saw this, because I had a weird glitch with the app some time ago, where it somehow automatically registered me as checking in and picking up before I even got to the store. I wound up calling out to an employee who was manning the front door and she told the Instacart folks, and I got my order, but there was no way to directly contact them through the app or by phone at the time.

They are not neighborly I'm guessing. Whoever received it. Next street over or whatever.

How frustrating!! Many sympathies. Just because the company is replacing your order doesn't make the event any less stressful. We have so little power over so many things right now, this kind of break is really upsetting.

I once had an Instacart order delivered a few doors down. They did have the picture but I wasn't sure whose door it was and it if was on my street or a parallel. By the time I'd gotten hold of CS, I'd had a message from the neighbor, and as I got to the sidewalk she was already bringing some of the bags. She said her first thought was that it was a gift left for her, then she saw groceries that were too unlike what she'd use (she's from a different culture). I went and got the rest from her porch. No harm. It was still really disturbing.

OTOH, I've sometimes gotten delivery notices when the items were only out on their way, and sometimes a couple of hours before arrival. This doesn't seem to be the case here, but it does make things confusing.

Oh no. I'm not thinking clearly. Non of this made sense. I have a small forest neighborhood that has a small yet high end delivery we look forward to. They gave it to the wrong home. That home will not belly up and deliver to me. Same with the bean order. (I think and guessing) not sure but obvious. Looking back, they keep wrong deliveries.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I am very glad I don't live near you. I would not of had a clue that anything was at my front door until the next time I ordered something and right now, that would be the end of October.

Maybe besides your address include something different on your porch so it is noticible, such as "porch has giant lion" or "please leave in cooler on deck". Just a thought.

A couple of months ago I sent a wheel of Maytag blue to my grand son in San Francisco. He had texted me a picture of a steak he grilled with a note that he crumbled "the last of the blue cheese" on it....so I sent him a surprise. BUT I forgot he had moved and sent it to his old address. And wondered why I didn't get a "Wow, Grandma!! Thanks for the Cheese" text. so I texted him and he never got it and reminded me that he had recently moved. Called the Dairy and they looked at records and it had been delivered. The new tenants of his old apartment kept the damn cheese....so I sent him another wheel....very EXPENSIVE wheel of cheese!

Those wheels are 5 pounds aren't they? I would have made contact so he could come pick it up if possible. Or re-send it after keeping a 1/2 pound sliver for myself 😂, for the good deed. (love that Maytag!)

My father lost his wallet once while traveling, (one of the times he lost it🙄). The nice group that found it sent it to him with a note. "we took out 15 bucks and ordered a pizza".

I was thinking about plllog's delivery mess-up during this comedy of errors. I could not find my keys, such a downpour of rain my car was covered in wet heavy branches of a pine tree. Then dead battery. It should be in the garage but that is a covid hoarding pantry at the moment😁. Table, chopsaw, covid home projects...

When thinking how many deliveries we all have, it is really rare overall that things go wrong.

I did take a walk eventually and DH checked via car on his way home. It's a big canvas insulated cooler bag. Could still be sitting on someones doorstep but not in my immediate neighborhood. Home doors are visible for the most part. Mailboxes at the end of driveways with #'s. Mine has a big stainless steel '2'. Getting the street and address wrong? hmmm

Bingo moment. I do most of the ordering and add a brief customer request, like "Garage door please. Much easier for you and me". (freezer downstairs) But DH has handled the local meat share and probably did not add anything.

I think I'll add mailbox color and the color and make of my car. Unusual mailbox being a bit large and homemade.

Tip for dead batteries in boonies: if you don’t have any easy jump start method, you can buy an inexpensive trickle charger ($35-40) and hook that up to you battery. Even a couple hours will be enough to get the engine to turn over. During Covid days, it can be easy to find your car’s battery finned out from infrequent car use.

One year our roasted coffee bean order kept getting “delivered” by a commonly noted carrier, but not to us. We followed up w the tracking. Driver said he delivered it. I did some detective work and Sherlocking. Only 7 households here. People keep to themselves. One guy got daily packages from the delivery service. Two follow up calls to the delivery company and we flagged down the driver. Oh, hellooooo! To what house did you deliver out $50 worth of coffee beans from these people (showing him the brown cardboard box)? Now walk back in your mind...(as Mister Rogers reminds us).

As I suspected, he was delivering it to a frequent (xxx delivery service) customer with whom he’d struck up an informal “friendship.” Jawboning. That neighbor is “troubled” — as in personality disorder, ~ sociopathic~ and manipulative. The driver went back to the creep’s house, retrieved our coffee and delivered them to us. The coffee roaster had credited us for the earlier missing order, weeks prior. I let Delivery co ABCD know the scoop and that mistake never happened again with our coffee order. (I can get double crabby when I don’t get my coffee.)

I stay clear of the screwy neighbor. More rich detail that I’ll refrain from sharing.

Most often missing packages have an innocent explanation. But, as is apparent in the past few years, some humans are disappointing.

I will not go into another vicious rant about my usps mail carrier.

I have had some trouble with FedEx recently. The last time they said something was delivered and it wasn't. I called them,the automated heifer told me that my packages had been delivered and hung up. I called back, automated heifer told me that there was no new information,my order was delivered and that she could not transfer me,then hung up. I called back, screamed and cursed at the automatic robot heifer like a madwoman and she put me on hold and after waiting 56 minutes on hold,(oh yes honey I will WAIT) they picked up, then immediately ended the call and a robot asked me to answer a survey. This happened 2 more times before I finally talked to someone who asked me if I checked my front porch.

Why nooooooooo, what a novel idea! I was looking in the treetops for it! Idiot. After I took a deep breath and informed him that yes, i was home, I have 4 large dogs that bark when someone comes up the driveway, and I have cameras covering every door and window and no one delivered anything and also informed him that another package was supposed to be delivered that day and was still out for delivery in the tracking information, he said someone would call me back. Someone did, and I relied all the info again, and assured this genius that yes i looked all around my house and reminded him that I have cameras and any attempt to claim it was delivered to my doorstep as they claimed could be disputed quite easily. A few hours later, someone in an unmarked truck came up the driveway, and delivered my other package,then handed me my first package that was soaking wet. He said the "other" driver left it on the ground by my mailbox, which is down my long driveway and on the other side of the road. There used to be a lovely woman who drove this route for fedex. I dont know what happened to her but I miss her dearly. UPS is the only one I can count on now to do their job.

And yes, people suck. I have had a few packages stolen and a few misdelivered ones kept by a neighbor when i had neighbors. Glad I dont anymore.

Ohh, delivery rants, 😂, (wringing hands). Misfits was scheduled to be delivered yesterday...😂😜🙄....still no show. Chili again for dinner.

If it won't get you in trouble with the neighbors or town, maybe you can put up signs with arrows, like they do for filming, pointing the way to your house. :)

Of course, the main issue, when not a case of extreme idiocy, like Petalique described, is people over trusting a GPS without confirming the street and number from the signs. My GPS can be spot on, but for large properties takes me to where it thinks the number is, which can be the service gate or the front door nobody uses. And I was late for jury duty once when it made me do a scary (but legal) U-turn and said I had arrived when I was in front of a weedpatch under the freeway entrance. The courthouse was on a cross street a quarter mile down, curling through a residential tract, and up another road. Some suggested that was to foil dobadders and bombers, but I saw plenty of guys in gang colors (but fresh and pressed in honor of it being court), sleazy looking white collars (not sure how many were the lawyers), and surely bombers aren't deterred by bad directions! I was able to guess my way there after a couple of errors, from the thumbnail map on the juror form. So I think it goes back to the public release of GPS where they only promised within ten yards, to preserve military secrets. And the fact that the courthouse was less than 25 years old. At least that would explain my groceries going four doors down. And maybe S’s going a street away. The signs are there for a reason!

One delivery guy bringing medical supplies to my father followed his GPS navigation system and let his brain go on autopilot (more dead end country roads — I’ve lived on a lot of them). Well, the trusting soul in his GMC obeyed the “street map” displayed and followed a neighbor’s boat ramp right into the clam flats, landing 40 ft. from shore in the soupiest muck. This was at 8 AM. My father, in inveterate photographer, cameras ever handy, snapped some photos. Rich. Wish I had the scanned photo handy. The driver hiked down the road to my father’s house and knocked on the door where my father greeted him with a cup of coffee and a muffin. Dad had travelled over much of the state and had stories and empathy in his heart. He gave the hapless driver some contacts for a tow and let him use the phone, cautioning him not to dally as the (10 ft.) tide was coming in and in less than six hours, his truck would be speaking “clam.”

Before in dash GPS and over reliance on the same, I had a handheld Nuvi on a beanbag stand. It worked great, had excellent voice command, and got us to a wedding at a ranch on a mountain, which wasn't on the map and had few signs. But, I also turned in at the gate with the balloons and correct name, rather than giving over my brain to the machine which was aiming for a couple miles further. Probably the "address" mark or "front".

When Lars and Kevin were here, Google took them out in the middle of the Manistee National Forest, down seasonal two track roads and who knows where. That route is barely passable and not shorter nor faster than just taking the highway. (sigh) It did a similar thing to me in West Virginia and again in Chicago. Now when I go somewhere, I get a map from AAA, and do it the old way, at least I get there.

At least you don't know your neighbors, I know all of mine and I know a couple of them would keep an incorrect delivery.

Misfits finally delivered at 9pm last night. Message with photo said box at front door. Not there. But was at the garage door. (both doors are red). All good. Still cold. Super fresh.

I wish all deliveries took a pic. I sent a pic of my mailbox, with my car at the end of the driveway, to the farm share. It will probably be the same driver next week. They deliver by zones. Bummer. Delivery will be the 12th now. Changes our weekend plans for sure.

We know all of our immediate neighbors. All great now. The kook next door moved a few years ago.
