Overwinter Seedlings in NY Zone 6 Giant Sequoia, Dawn/Coast Redwood

Hello Total newbie to anything gardening. I planted three seedlings in July in containers as a Covid Experiment. A Giant Sequoia, a Dawn and a Coast Redwood. Not jinx it but they are doing well and all are almost 11 inches, though quite slender and delicate.

I would appreciate any advice in assisting survival over the New York Winter. I believe that these trees need some dormancy period. So I would appreciate recommendations. My first thought would be to try a simple cold frame, bury the pots in the ground and insulate with mulch/straw.

The other option i read about is storing in a garage, with a small light or heater to keep below 30. However, i store my Japanese maples in the garage, and i wonder if the light will interfere with their dormancy.....

Any advice suggestions appreciated....
