Kohler Dickinson apron-front sink vs. Rohl fireclay farmhouse
Comments (10)We have the Dickinson and have been very happy with it. But, Johnliu really did say it best. After drooling over the Rohl I realized I didn't want to shred my nerves over a sink or anything else anymore. I've seen 30 year old cast iron sinks that lived in households with 5 kids and they looked fine. DH all by himself can be the equivalent of 5 kids in the kitchen so I figured I was okay with the Dickinson. Bottom line, I guess, is "know thyself" (as well as the habits of others who will use the sink) and choose accordingly....See MoreAnyone looking for a Kohler Fireclay Apron front Farmhouse sink?
Comments (4)Thank you rubyvine for your post. I appreciate your interest in my sink. It is beautiful and I was hoping someone could use it. I am surprised that your cab guys can't make the change... My husband works with a cabinet guy that said just removing the drawer front on the sink base and creating a support for the sink's weight is all it would take. But I am sure your guys have their own reasons. Thanks again!...See MoreWho knows KraftMaid and Cooktop Cabinets?
Comments (5)I'm not really understanding when you say "stepping out by 3". We just bought a Kraft Maid kitchen. Several KDs told us we had to have at least a 33" wide cabinet to accommodate the cook top. 36" cooktop cabinets are much preferred but our island was just too long. We tweaked it where we could. It is difficult to install our Jenn-Aire downdraft cooktop in 33". The 33" cabinet has a short (back to front) drawer in the top but no shelves or drawers underneath. The width of the front part of our 2 teir island is 24" and the back is 12". We will hang the counter top over the front part of the island by a couple inches, I think, to give more plate room at the seating part in the back. If the cooktop downdraft works correctly, the steam, heat, etc. will get sucked down before harming the back tier's counter top. The downdraft is aligned perpendicular to the length of the island so I don't really understand how yours would "hit" the 2nd teir. I don't think the cooktop is anywhere near the 24" back to front that it needs to set into so there will be adequate space all around it....See MoreAPRON-FRONT sink..can front be flush with cabinet front?
Comments (7)I am planning on getting it but have not yet done so as the cabinets are not yet in and I've not ordered any appliances or sink. I am looking at a few faucets and leaning toward the Newport Brass East Linear. So many of the ones I've held feel so flimsy in my hand and I want to avoid that, even if it means a splurge. I need the main faucet and also the filtered water spout faucet. I liked the Talis's by HG but they also felt flimsy and light….and the Axor by Starck, which feels sturdy has a price that is out of sight. Ditto the Waterstone and of course, the gorgeous museum-worthy Sonoma Forge fixtures! I've not been able to hold the Solna or ARtesso by Brizo but liked their looks in the catalog. Trying to decide now on finish for kitchen facuet and think I will go with PChrome. Lovely woman in the Hansgrohe showroom recommended that over the stainless ones; she says she has to clean them all very often for display and that the PC is much easier to clean that the steel finishes. I do like PN but worried that it will require too much upkeep in a kitchen and that it will not match cabinet hardware…love to hear thoughts on that issue….seems that PC is much easier to find in cabinet hardware than polished nickel. At lest I think so..have not gotten up to the hardware yet. All but decided to go with black finishes in bathroom fixtures. Too bad Dornbracht is out of my range here because the Tara is a classic. But California Faucets have a vast array of finishes and a good reputation, it appears. Sorry I rambled here…too much info! I've not posted in a long time as dealing with medical issues so I guess I had pent up need to chatter!!...See MoreThe Kitchen Place
