Question about sink base cabinets and Apron front/farm sinks
Comments (12)I have almost NO room at all under mine. The garbage disposal just about fills it. In fact, if you look closely on the left door you can see the black marks were it rubs against the inside of the door. The GC had to rout out some relief to get the door to close completely. I also had to carefully wrap all the hanging cords around the drain pipe to clear a bit of storage space above the pipe for the fertilizer and watering bottle for my plants. Still, I got the sink and the look I wanted that has the sink sitting forward, seemingly on the legs (that's what brought the disposal up against the door). Think about what you want under there. I could have gotten a smaller disposer (I compost so use it infrequently). And I don't use a lot of cleaners. I also don't have things under there like instant hot water or a soap dispenser -- just the guts of an airswitch. If you want those things think about where they'll all go. All in all I'm very happy with the look and the storage works for me. But you should be aware going in that it's sparce!...See MoreApron front sink - granite around front/sides - pics?

Comments (10)I love, love, love my sink. Probably one of my top 2 favorite things in our new kitchen. The finish is great, not brushed but not super high shine and it has been very easy to keep clean. We've had it installed since last June and no scratches yet...probably helps that we keep the grid in all the time and I only use the sponge side of the scrubbie to clean it...usually just clean it with dish soap or 409 but maybe once a month I use the liquid Bar Keeper's Friend and it has stayed looking brand new. I was a little worried about the soundproofing only because of it being deeper than our previous sink but it hasn't been an issue at all....See MoreCabinet size for Silgranit Ikon apron front sink
Comments (3)I have the Ikon 33 in a 36” cabinet - so I think the same principle applies to the Ikon 30. I’m not a cabinet maker but I think you need the few inches extra of frame so the cabinet itself has support. Especially how it tapers thicker to the bottom. At the bottom of sink is exactly 1.5” left of cabinet face on each side. I hope you can find a way to make it work, I totally adore this sink, both looks and function. Not sure of your layout dilemma but I’d suggest trying for the 33 in a 36 cabinet, is there another cabinet nearby that could go down 6” smaller?...See More- 8 years ago
