Bee behavior question

I dug up a baptisia yesterday and when I went to pot it up noticed a bumblebee clinging to one of the stems. It wasn't flying away and I didn't want to disturb her (? him), so I stuck the plant in a pan of water to keep the roots moist, she was crawling on the stem at that point (probably felt threatened). I checked on the plant this morning, and she was still there. What is she doing? Has she gone there to die? Or something else - maybe on guard for a nest nearby? I need to do something with the plant -- can I gently move her to a another plant (she made no attempt to fly, maybe I could coax her onto my finger or a big leaf).
