Something happened you should know about....
Comments (9)Gardeners are indeed the most generous people! I've gotten lots of generous packets and boxes in the mail from many, including our own pitimpinai and dirtysc. A few years back I posted on a thread somewhere, casually commenting on how I couldn't wait to get a digital camera. A day or so later, I got an e-mail from a forummer offering me her inexpensive one, because she had gotten a new, better one. She sent it out in the mail for me for free! Would not take anything in return. I was flabbergasted and eternally grateful. It gave me much joy in the garden. When DH bought me a new camera for Christmas last year, I passed the old one on to another gardener who wished for one. I figured that was the best way to repay the original giver. GW is where to meet the best people in the world! :) Dee...See MoreYou never know what you're gonna get
Comments (8)Not everything looks so lush though, Carrie, I just don't take pics of the dead or dying stuff that has fried in this heat and drought. My lupines will be trashed as soon as I can get to them, probably fall, because I can't get them now because other things are so close. Also fried- Mexican Hats, one tomato plant, a few salvia, columbine & digitalis seedlings, clarkia, cerinthe, digitalis, perennial poppies, nasturtium, I could go on and on. Supposed to get to 96 degrees today, rising 5 degrees per hour from the current 85 at 10 a.m. Heat index today 105 to 110. We got 1/10th inch of rain a few days ago, but none before since I don't remember. I've been out watering for over 2 hours, just cooling off now for a few minutes in the ac, then I'll go back out and finish watering. Guess this is going to last till fall. Comments (3)OMG. THAT is a funny thread. I have zero, so sad. Oh WAIT, I have one! Blue Mouse Ears! I got it just before the 4th of July and planted it at my mother's house. It was supposed to be a gift for her and when she said very loudly I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR ANY MORE PLANTS. I said, "Fine. It's not for you then. It's for me and you have to babysit if for me in your garden!" So I guess I have a problem if I don't have a garden and I've already started my collection. I'm going to put in the remainder of an edging project for her tomorrow so I'll get a picture! Regatta...See MoreDo You Happen To Know What This Baking Tool Is?
Comments (16)Alexa, rest assured the one I sent you is a gnocci board, also known as a gnocci paddle. I picked it up from a tiny shop in Amalfi. I learned about gnocci boards while I was in Amalfi for a week long cooking adventure. Our teacher, chef Enrico Franzese, preferred the boards to forks. Perhaps in the US people use forks because the gnocci boards are less known. It seems that the difference between the two are that the butter paddle is made out of a single piece of wood while the gnocciboard has an attached handle. I think they are pretty interchangeable and some people don't seem to know the difference anyhow, as evidenced by the following link. jo Here is a link that might be useful: tomayto/tomahto...See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
