Paint Color for black and white bathroom

I am unsure what color to paint bathroom walls.

This is the tile strip and the floors are the old fashioned black and white. There is also a big black tile strip. I tried matching the bluish color in tile, and the paint is too baby blue for me. I really would like to avoid light blue.

Here's a photo of a pretty cool B&W bathroom - it's from an article in yesterday's Washington Post Home section about Allie Wentworth's house (she has her own cable series, is on Oprah every Friday as part of her panel show, and is married to George Stephanopolous). I like it. It's all b&w but the wallpaper is really striking. Thanks so much! I am heading there tomorrow. Well I guess I will call first to see if they are open since its the 4th. The closest one is actually across the state line about 35 minutes away. I picked up some samples of the browns from Lowe's last night but had a sample of SW Jute Brown downstairs and am going to try it first on the master one but I want black in Brett's Bathroom. The authentic colors for an 1810 bathroom would be whatever the chamberpot was glazed with. Don't worry about carrying colors over ... treat the bath like an 1890s upgrade back when great-great-granny told her husband that either they got indoor plumbing or she was going home to momma and he could have the chamberpot. F&B's Arsenic might work, as might St Giles Blue and Cook's blue. There's also the classic pastel paint - pale grey, pale yellow, or pale blue

To msrmom: I am attaching my other bathroom that is not quite 100% complete yet. Still have art to go.. But in this one we went with Brushed Nickel right down to the toilet flush handle. My vanity lights and the hanging light are white linen. both with brushed nickel. I feel like I am really stuck now on the black and white bathroom. I was reading that the gold could go out of style and the black, but I have had the hole cut into the counter so it's too late. I absolutely love the brushed nickel. It is a beautiful colour. What I could do is change the hardware to brushed nickel, toilet flusher and then maybe some pictures like the attached. This is not my favourite for art, but it got me thinking about silver type finish.

Use a gray, not a "blue" . You don't need to exactly match it, and you won't like it if you do manage to do that. Try a pale, soft light gray. If you want an easy one?

Go get a quart of Ben Moore WISH,AF 680, but ask the mixer to HALVE the formula.

Bet me it works: ) Ignore how it looks in the can. Roll a big swatch, you can tell nothing from the way you are testing.

The black tile, will make many grays read blue. Try what I said :

@JudyG Designs Love your inspiration pic. I would do black walls.

It would be a wow factor.

I'd do a medium to dark color on the walls to contrast with the white tiles.

You can paint any color. I painted mine Benjamin Moore Caliente. Even with the gray/black stripe you're not limited because both are neutrals.
