Door and sidelights red (recommend an old Sherwin Williams color from the Martha Stewart Signature Collection called Red Miso #8383) Trim should be same color as house trim. There is a factor of color hierarchy that you can defer to if you wish - color hierarchy is not about rules, it's about logic, wayfinding and guidelines. Organizing sidelights and door together in same color makes sense. Painting the door trim the same as the house trim provides continuity = consistency which facilitates wayfinding. Using color hierarchies to organize an exterior built environ will result in logical wayfinding and it all adds up to what is often referred to as curb appeal. Curb appeal includes, from the curb the structure looks good, makes sense, and subconsciously you immediately and intuitively know how to navigate the building. i.e. you sense the main, front entrance and know what to do and where to go to enter the building without having to think about it. Strategic color hierarchies help you instinctively find your way. Wayfinding. .... and people think trim is just trim. ;)

Good advice. However, be sure it's 100% Acrylic Latex enamel. Satin is a good choice too. Satin is the only choice when buying a pre-finished entry door. Satin has a better appeal. Michael

@Windows on WashingtonLtd and @grafefruit1_ar Ideas on layout of new windows? Stick with casements? Double hung? The large front window is one large framed opening with a double casement, a picture window, a double casement. The sections on either side of the fixed section look different because of window screens. Here's a close up: Altogether it's about 10.5' x 5' of single pane steel casement loveliness *insert eye roll*. You both make a good point about vinyl. When we bought our home 21 years ago, there was no vinyl that would have looked nice enough to use on the front of the house. The choices were pretty much Anderson or Marvin wood windows. Vinyl has come such a long way in terms of both quality and looks. The contractor that did all the windows also built our great deck, and helped us remodel our family room: contacted him about our current kitchen remodel. We had a good conversation about it and asked me to email him the plans. I did. Never heard back. Called and texted again, never heard back :-( Very disappointed. Thank you for your feedback

I also prefer the interior of the door to match the trim around the door. For the exterior, the white is clean and pretty, but it seems like you are ready for a change. Thankfully you have that pretty brick which is quite versatile. I am a sucker for a medium or dark green with brick, in this case with a gray undertone. If you coose the right green it won't look christmasy. I also could see a muted teal/turquoise/peacock being pretty, again with a gray undertone. I would also prefer the exterior trim around the door be painted the same as the door. These Benjamin Moore colors for the exterior.
