If you have had good success with the vinyl on the back of the home, there is no reason you could not re-use that vendor and option on the front. Just about every vinyl company has a painted option these days and you can specify whatever color goes with your color palette on the front of the home. The "clay" colors are quite pretty and would go with the shutter and gutter colors.

I would get the same Windows that you have in the rear. They look very nice. I would get two windows to replace the picture window. We like to open our windows. Wait.....maybe I was looking at the wrong front window. What is that " different" section on the right side....between two windows?

Ideas on layout of new windows? Stick with casements? Double hung?

The large front window is one large framed opening with a double casement, a picture window, a double casement. The sections on either side of the fixed section look different because of window screens.

Altogether it's about 10.5' x 5' of single pane steel casement loveliness *insert eye roll*.

You both make a good point about vinyl. When we bought our home 21 years ago, there was no vinyl that would have looked nice enough to use on the front of the house. The choices were pretty much Anderson or Marvin wood windows. Vinyl has come such a long way in terms of both quality and looks.

The contractor that did all the windows also built our great deck, and helped us remodel our family room: contacted him about our current kitchen remodel. We had a good conversation about it and asked me to email him the plans. I did. Never heard back. Called and texted again, never heard back :-( Very disappointed.

Thanks for the clarification. I would still go with the same as you have on the back of the house. I would replace the large living room window with three double hungs....side-by-side. Are the rear window really casements? Are they the egress type that totally swing open?

Yes, they are real casements that swing totally open. The two front windows over the garage are the same size as the two windows to the right of the deck stairs. Open out like this: \__/ The smaller windows are single casements \__

The idea of double hung in the front could be very good. Our house sits slightly downhill from the street. That means keeping the blinds titled at a certain angle for light/privacy. With double-hungs, we could get those blinds that drop down from the top as well as rise up from the bottom. I like it!
