Any big projects this week? Let's share?
Comments (36)Igloo, I am sending out huge positive vibes for a successful pregnancy. So glad they finally came up with a better term than they used when we went through the process of trying to have a 'test tube baby'. Moved into my new closet and refinished the outside of the tub. Got the feet back from the sandblaster. Tomorrow I'm heading to Sacramento to 'Mac, the antique plumber' store to procure fixtures and fittings for it. Been mowing our 2 acres between (unseasonal) rains. Leaving for a week's vacation at our beloved cabin on the lake in the Sierra's on the 13. No cell phones, no TV, no computers. Just a kayak and lots of unread books. But I'll be busy next week getting everything ready....See MoreDIY-ers, Let's Finish This Thing!
Comments (83)Hi Weekend warriors! Sending jumbo aspirin, margaritas (or your chillin' libation of choice), and lots of encouragement to you all this extra-day-to-make-progress weekend! Greenhaven, thanks for the horse house pics, I missed them last time I stopped by. I assure you your horse doesn't care about level or plumb NEARLY as much as carrot pieces or a can of sweet feed! Here's a pic of my horse years ago. Y'all, I TRIED to make progress, this week. I TRIED to order my commercial porch rail, but the guy quoted me 8 foot sections and I need/want 6 foot sections, so I have to get a re-quote. I have narrowed down the product and fasteners for the project, though. (Marine grade, I'm into buy it good enough to last.) I also TRIED to order supplies to renovate my hardwood floor and then was called by the vendor. Turns out they won't ship gallons of the stuff to my state, only quarts and I didn't want this. Cancelled that order and will re-think the plan. Sometimes, DIY is full of potholes and obstacles! But we trudge through with full determination. And in the end, we have much more respect for ourselves, because we prevailed! Enjoy your long weekend, everyone!...See MoreMy Porch - Your Porch - Let's share!
Comments (31)These porches are so beautiful. But how do you keep them so nice and clean? It seems like I get mine cleaned off and two or so hours later copious amounts of something else appears. The wind just seems to bring every leaf, bit of dog fur, bird feathers, nesting material, dead flowers (which seem to attract spiders) and dust my direction. If I were to screen the porch that would reduce it to just the dust-I hope. Do you (or your maid) sweep and mop these areas every day?...See MoreGot to share a couple of things.
Comments (39)Amy, I have no idea what root stock it was on but I did ask for the one that is good for growing in New England when I spoke to them and not sure if they still did. So frustrating. It's my third one in three years. I really want to have one that lasts like my others(. Glad you are ok. Can't wait for them pic of your greenhouse if you can fit. lol. Seems many of us are having the fitting problem. lol Star fruit? Where did you get yours? I can't find any sold around here or on E-bay less than 100 dollars. Ugh! Bob, beautiful figs!!! What is the coldest hardiest FIG tree I could plant here other than a Chicago Hardy? I would love to give one a try here this spring. SO healthy looking. What is your favorite eating sweet fig?? Very nice. Are you waking up your fig trees already? Is that potted one just coming out of dormancy? Jan. OMG. I can't believe how big your trees have gotten. They are almost as big as Brian's. I think you will have him beat before he knows it. Has he even seen what your trees look like these days? He's missing out if not, in fact he's missing out on all our friendships here. I hope he's ok. Look at how green they are. You are the citrus whisperer for sure. Where's the orchids? Ha. You should have a go at coconut smelling orchids and the very sweet vanilla cookies ones. Oh there is the one that smells like chocolate)) I will show pics soon. I have a few in flower finally. Hugs)) Be safe. What a sea of green in your greenhouse and it looks like you have no bugs!! That is because you keep it cool. So much easier to deal with. That is why I keep mine pretty cold. Have fun everyone today. Sunny and warm here by January standards!! 50 degrees and sunny!!...See Morebbstx
