IMO, the rug will not compete with the art. The rug in your link is a very faint looking blue. I don't think it will give the same effect as the inspiration photo. It might be too soft for the art. I'm sure someone will jump in who can offer good suggestions.

If the desks you purchased fit the exact width of your room and are up against the window wall, your floor to ceiling curtains will be in the way. It looks like you already have blinds on the windows so maybe just get rid of the curtains? The rug is great and will look good with your art. My advice is to start loading everything into your room and actually seeing how it all fits together instead of trying to visualize. If something doesn't go, you'll know right away and can return it. Also, when you are looking for an inspiration room, try to find a few and not just one. You really like the colours of your current inspiration room and that's a good start. You should also find an inspiration room that has the desk pushed against the wall and not floating in the middle of the room which is your actual furniture placement. I think what you have chosen so far looks great! You're on the right track! Keep going!!

That rug will look fabulous.

Will you need anything for storage, a printer, books??? Maybe having the desks back to back would offer you more options for an effective workstation.

hooray for color! :-) Definitely play with the layout of the desks as Beverly suggests. I totally understand looking out the window while working, but having your back to the room opening and all the activity behind you is bad Feng Shui. Could you do an L arrangement, one against the window wall, one on one of the side walls? Not sure that's the best arrangement, but you do need a view to both the outside and the rest of the house to generate the best positive energy. And we all need all the positive energy we can get right now. Post a pic when you're done.

Some possible layouts. I took the dimensions of the Alex desk and approximated the size of your room. Also took into consideration where it looks like your cables and outlets are from your pics. Except for the top left layout, these layouts give you the opportunity to see in all directions assuming your main work space is the desk parallel with the long wall. Lots of other possibilities too.
