Comments (19)Discouraging news, everyone. My mother decided to take it upon herself to move my cats back outside. The "Creepy crawlies" didn't belong in the house. When I returned to the now completely trimmed and soap-soaked remains of my milkweed plants the next morning as soon as I find out, I can only find one baby cat on the plant. Who I've decided to name Elmer. (I have an addiction for naming everything, no matter how many there are.) He's now in a medium sized Tupperware container with a few milkweed leaves at the bottom. Luckily, I saved some from when I trimmed. Will he be able to climb the smooth plastic sides? I also took a picture of the Milkweed bugs, or beetles, with my camera phone. The quality is horrid, but maybe one of you could tell....See MoreMoldy G. Green Ice and bugs, oh no.
Comments (5)NN, Not lack of ventilation. It is on a raised (11ft off the ground)covered porch, open on three sides facing south wind. Today, 25MPH winds. LOL. Bird feeder is clanging away. Blown dust, silt, etc. that then got moist might have created the situation. Tinactin EH. That is an interesting option. I do have some.I was thinking about changing dirt and going with mostly pumice this time. I think the dirt is 4 yrs old. It is a combination dish garden Crenda, your spots do look like they have eaten into the surface. Mine are on top. I did get my coffee and soap and water and peroxides and I washed the plant and with gentle rubbing , most came off. I think I might tinactin the crevices. NN, did you then wash it off after awhile? Here is the whole pot in younger cleaner days....See MoreOh, Bill V.....could I bug you for an opinion???
Comments (2)Hi Rita, I'm not Bill V., nor do I count myself among the Tile Cherubim, but I can offer a bit of insight on grout selections, especially with natural materials; "It's a physical experience". You need to see the grout next to the stone, and preferably in the same lighting conditions. Most grout suppliers, including the Orange and Blue warehouses, have convenient color charts which you can take home with you to make side-by-side comparisons easier. Also, one manufacturer's color palette might be much more attractive to you than anothers. Of the five grout sample boxes I carry in my truck, there are five completely different interpretations of simple "Natural Gray". While "Noce" is a widely common distinction of travertine, I don't believe that anyone will be able to offer a credible recommendation over the internet. Watch out also when considering Custom Building Products grouts. Among professionals, this manufacturer's grouts stand out almost universally as not proving to cure true to the samples. "Lighter than the sample" and "blotchy" are the most common complaints I hear. Best of luck, Shaughnn...See Morenini804
