Should I replace my 15 year downdraft when I do a new cooktop?

I'm replacing a cook-top with a new induction unit in a butcher block center island. The downdraft is a Thermador and works adequately. However, some cutting of the butcher block will be necessary and I wondered if it would be smart to try to fit a new downdraft now to avoid cutout problems later. I don't know the useful life of a downdraft, but the end could be near.

Advice appreciated!
