Bill Vincent - Porcelain Tile Question
Comments (6)Bill, thank you for your comments and yes, it was the PEI rating that I couldn't remember. I'm looking for a rectified porcelain tile that mimics real stone in a light cream or golden color - very minimalist in overall apprearance with very low variation for it is going to be pared with Cambrian Black Antique finish countertops. I'd also like to use the porcelain from the floor on the backsplash in large tile (12 by 12 or 18 by 18 format) to put on the backsplash to help maintain the minimal appearance and having a grout line only every 12 or 18 inches. Both the counter and the backsplash would have a matte finish I've looked at the Dal and Crossville website and will try them again to see if one of their products fits our criteria. I know you have mentioned these two companies before. any other suggestions My first reaction on their sites was that their tiles had high variation and were frequently glazed and lacked through body color and were not rectified. Thanks again, jb...See MorePorcelain Tile Question - Bill V -- Can you help?
Comments (7)The tile is going over concrete. Yes, it is very smooth. It has a matte finish. I was just primarily worried that it might be more prone to cracking because it seems slightly thinner than others. I think the thickness is 8 mm and some of the Italian porcelains are 10 mm. It is manufactured in South America if that makes any difference - I don't know?...See MorePorcelain tile flooring question
Comments (2)Not sure, but your comment of "sharp protruding edges" makes me think this is rectified porcelain set with a tight joint. If that's the case (actually, in ANY case) this should be addressed with your installer, because no, it's NOT acceptable. Can you elaborate any more on this? Is it from corners sticking up? Where exactly are the sharp edges you're feeling? Any chance you could share a digital pic of the floor? Preferrably taken low to the floor across the face of the floor?...See MoreWolf Lawsuit filed July 9, 2015 regarding Blue Porcelain Chipping
Comments (109)Wolf claims it’s “cosmetic” and not a defect so therefore they weren’t going to pay for the labor, only the parts. The labor is the most expensive thing! I mentioned the past lawsuit and this and other threads. Also they aren’t going to guarantee that it won’t happen again, and almost suggested that it WILL keep happening. They came across that it is no big deal and these things happen with heavy use and it’s never going to look as good as day one. LOL. Ridiculous. We have had it for a year and don’t use it very often. They say since it’s porcelain, that’s what happens. Are you kidding me!?!? A classic case of gaslighting. There are huge cracks/gouges and I have never used the self cleaning feature (their first question for some reason) or scrubbed/scraped it. Had I known, I never would have bought this oven. Cheap ovens for 1/6 the price look better after a year…. They also said it’s safe to have the blue flakes as it’s only porcelain, a natural material, and they have never heard of it getting into the food. HA HA HA…I was in disbelief. Laughable!...See MoreM B
