Memory foam mattress pads started being used in 1980s itself. This gel-like polyurethane material helped decrease pressure, thereby reducing the incidence of bedsores. When launched commercially in the 90Âs, it was instantly successful and many private companies brought forth their own products, which got the price down as well. These memory foam mattress pads are almost as comfortable as the memory foam mattresses but at a price way lesser than the latter. The mattress pads are placed on a bed and should be broken within few weeks time. Temperature plays an important factor, as they are liable to get heated. I like the latex topper for sleeping better but I sure love the feather for show-and-tell and I used them on the beds when showing my house while it was on the market and I think all the potential buyers fell in love with my decor and bedrooms, rather than my house. ;-) They all loved the look of the dimly lit bedrooms with feather mattresses (obvious) and folded duvets without covers at the foot of the duvet-covered feather mattress. Pile on the fluff when going for the contract. Light the fireplace, dim the lamps, wind the clocks, turn sound system to classical. With that and appealing baths with banana bread baking in the oven. ka ching.

I am interested in this because I have a guestroom mattress that is too firm, and I am embarrassed for guests to sleep on it and be uncomfortable. I tried a memory foam topper on it, but didn't like the way it formed around my body and retained my body impression - I guess that is why they call it memory foam. Then I tried a wool-filled topper. Heaven...at first. Very quickly it flattened in the middle, so that if you slept on one side you felt like you were going to roll downhill toward the middle. Ravencajun - does the cuddlebed topper do either of those things?

I think you should chastise your topper ... for having lost its capability before the "memory" function changed to being one of "memorial". Can you do some serious thinking to each find a friend, or a few, who would be willing to have you as an overnight guest every other night? That would enable you to take turns using the centre, almost entirely unweighted portion of the current topper every other night? If, using great stories and otherwise being greatly engaging, perhaps after you'd paid the price of a topper in rent, they'd have become so entranced by your stories and and generally happy-making behaviour, that they'd want to continue the arrangement, rent free! You'd have most of the wakeful day to spend with your spouse, of course. ole joyful
