Memory foam mattress topper is too hot!
Comments (23)Sarahlee, It somewhat surprises me when you say that your topper is gel foam. When I was in the market for a new mattress I told all the sale people that I did not want foam because of its reputation for being hot to sleep on. I'm extremely bothered by being too warm when I sleep. One of the salespeople told me about the gel foam and how it is sensitive to your body temps and makes for a cooler sleep. I was skeptical, but with a money-back guarantee I did purchase it and have been very pleased. I have never been in the market for a topper, so I wasn't even aware that they made a gel foam one. It would seem that if it is a topper only, the gel layer can't be that thick. Seems like most replies you've gotten have been relative to regular foam, rather than the gel foam....See MoreCompany in 3 days: Latex Mattress Topper smells
Comments (19)HELP please - my 100% pure natural latex mattress (dunlop) smells. I am really concerned about this.We have been having this mattress for more than 6weeks now. For the first month we had to leave it unzipped and uncovered from its outer cover in a separate bedroom with windows non-stop open for over a month. We even avoided going to the room much, as the smell quickly spread over the house.I have to say that the smell has decreased considerably (and we started sleeping on it in last 2 weeks), but the smell still lingers enough to bother us. Our 2.5 year old daughter sleeps in bed with us and even if she takes only an hour nap in the afternoon, I can smell the mattress on her pyjama and her body (through a good quality mattress protector and a bedsheet!)! I myself am pregnant and although I keep reading about the smell not gassing off and not being harmful in these mattresses, I am concerned more and more. I think I would rather return it (but our trial period has ended). we were told (and everywhere I am reading I can see) that mattress smell should go within 6 weeks. Does anyone have a similar experience?...See MoreProtecting the latex mattress topper
Comments (0)Hello Houzzers! I'm wondering how people protect their mattress toppers, natural latex or otherwise. We have a 2" thick natural latex mattress topper on our son's bed and it's covered by a wool protector (because that is what we had covering the mattress). The protector is not fitted, it just lays on top. Because of that, the wool protector slips around under the fitted sheet and can get a bit wrinkly. It's hard to fix it though, because it's under the sheet and the mattress sits down inside the platform bed. With the mattress and topper together, the whole thing is rather thick and I'm not sure it will fit under a regular mattress protector. I'm not super excited about buying a new product when we have something that works, albeit imperfectly. But in the meantime, I want to do some research! The store where we bought the topper sells zippered protectors for $49 (yikes!). The website also states that it's not necessary and that most people don't purchase those protectors when they purchase the topper. Thanks in advance. (sorry this is a little wordy), Shira...See MoreOld Feather Mattress Topper
Comments (0)I have old (15 yr) twin size goose feather mattresses topper. Although the perimeter is nice and fluffy, the middle feathers are compressed from being laid on. It says dryclean only. Is there anyway to refresh it? Or should I put in in compost, or? Thanks!...See Morebeckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally
