Airline Food - Funny Passenger Complaint
Comments (18)The best food I had was on Canadian Pacific (they served great filet Mignon), and the second best was Air France, where I had Crab Louis. My best friend in Mexico City said that SwissAir had the best food (and sterling silver flatware), but I also had real silverware on CP, and for that matter on the Santa Fe train, when I used to take it between Houston and Temple when I was at Rice. My favorite meals were on trains. In the 1990s I used to ask for Kosher meals when I would fly so that I could get lactose free food. I also used to ask the airlines what color scheme was used in the decoration of the airplane interiors, so that I would not wear something that would clash. Unfortunately, they were unable to furnish me with this information and I sometimes had to be embarrassed - mostly notably when I flew Alaskan Airlines, which had horrible brown interiors with hideous brown upholstery. I happened to be wearing turquoise linen pants, a magenta shirt, and purple shoes on that flight between Seattle and San Francisco. After that, I stopped flying into or out of Seattle and only flew to Vancouver when visiting the northwest. That was in the 1980s, however. Lars...See MoreStarting a community food garden 2020

Comments (41)That mom cooked? My mom was a wonderful cook, and she took courses and read magazines and books. I liked everything she made from quickies and comfort food to dinner fare and party food. Except, I didn't like her omelettes, and I never liked liver. Mom rarely made it anyway. DH will order it if it's in on the menu in a restaurant because he knows I'll never cook it, but the last restaurant we knew that made his liver is gone for a few years now. Here's a funny thing: to me, liver tastes like dog food. But even though they LOOK like dog food, I do like pâtés--French, Danish, German. And I now like a properly-made omelette. The funny thing about the omelette is this. My mom watched Julia Child, and had her cookbooks, which I now have. But I think she worried about undercooked eggs so her omelettes were a bit overcooked. And she was becoming concerned about salt so they were a bit flavorless to me. At restaurant buffet omelette stations, whatever the added ingredients, sometimes I liked them and sometimes not. But I wondered why a plain omelette couldn't taste good? Well, a few months ago I checked out The French Chef from the library and DH and I spent the shutdown watching. The Omelette Show was a game-changer and DH now makes a plain omelette even I can love....See Moresleevendog (5a NY 6aNYC NL CA)
