Glenda,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Keep us posted on MRI results. Do not fear hip replacement if it's a possibility. Recovery from hip is much easier than recovery from knee (so I'm told) I had knee done in October and was driving myself to bridge 10 days later. Just keep that positive attitude of yours going. It will make a big difference!

I frequent Joel's downtown Trussville, when their menu calls my name :o) Sometimes I meet Linda from GA now from Al, who lives in Remlap Or there's The Summit, which is 459 for you coming from Trussville onto 280. I live close to The Summit. I have new wheels, will travel :o) Next week, first part is birthday for my son, turning 48, so maybe the end of the week or the next week? Will see how Linda's schedule goes. I have her email and phone number as well. Great to see you reconnected to the KT.

ravencajun, haven't you previously said you most often use tablets? I encounter more website problems on all kinds of sites with tablets (and we have both Android and iPad varities), and more consistently and frequently so, than I ever do with a PC. Maybe there is site-producing software that's more android/IOS friendly, and some that is less so? Or more Firefox friendly and less so for others? I know for my employer's website, you can't use Chrome. Don't even think of it. I've asked and they just suggest using anything other than Chrome. A few years ago, before they restructured (and re-coded?) the site, Chrome worked great but you couldn't use Firefox. Now, they've switched, Firefox works fine.

The recipe looks great, and I was wondering about frosting as well since I don't usually go that route. So happy to see no frosting necessary. (and I love that it has "normal" ingredients! the only thing I don't usually have on hand is sour cream but no biggy. I have used yogurt and even cottage cheese in its place for some recipes but I think for this one, sour cream will be used). Thanks for posting this!

Hey, you're (mumble, mumble) years old, going to water aerobics and doing pretty good it seems to me, so try to stay positive and here's hoping that you'll bounce back quickly.

Let us know the results and especially just how you're doing.

The missus had her hip replaced last year, a heck of a lot better than when I had mine done in 2005. Then, this spring, she had the knee replaced on the same side. Piece of cake. Less than 3 weeks of PT.

Best of luck! My mom had hers done in her 90's. Stayed in therapy facility for a week I think. Then she was better than ever. I have been missing her, her birthday is coming up the 24th.

The surgeons have great technology these days that make recovery easier. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Just do what they tell you to do ! I have had both knees and one hip replaced and have done well. Knees in about 2004 and hip maybe 5 years ago. You need to follow through with the therapy and I have no doubt you will. All good wishes!

Glenda, I too missed whatever is going on, so best wishes for your outcome from the MRI. And what other have said about the hip replacement - very true, much faster recovery than knee. DH had one done almost 2 years ago due to arthritis. He wasn't even using a walker after the 2nd day. Used a cane a few times when we went out, just for ‘protection’ because he was moving a little more slowly.

Glenda, had my right hip done last year and left hip done in 2018. Used the walker for maybe 8 days, both times, used the cane for maybe a month, again both times. No pain now. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Best Wishes for a good outcome. When I had a knee injury , the orthopedist said don’t wait to get it fixed or your compensating while walking etc will start to effect your good knee. At least you have stayed as active as you can, that should help with recovery

Glenda, did your doctor give you a diagnosis yet? Arthritis or another issue?

DH went on far longer than he should have with pain, went to PT twice (did nothing) and refused shots. Our family doctor finally referred us to a wonderful surgeon at Vanderbilt. he had surgery within the month, there was no question in his diagnosis and recommendation. Best decision ever rather than prolong the inevitable. Shots just mask the issue.

I have spinal stenosis and get relief from a Salonpas patch on the area at night. It's the one with Lidocaine 4%. Over the counter. A bargain at Costco. Arthritis is NASTY.

I regret having a shot in my back by an orthopedic MD at the Pain Clinic in our hospital. It didn't help and I was a night-time 'floorwalker' for a week afterwards. (It's possible the spinal injection was not the cause of the trouble, but he said he'd found a 'muscle knot' as well, and poked around at that for awhile in addition to injecting the vertebra.)

    georgysmom2 thanked chisue

@chisue, so glad the SalonPas is giving you some relief. My doctor highly recommended so I tried and they did nothing for me. BioFreeze and Tylenol help some, but I don't want to use every day. Don't know why I feel that way. I am allergic to most prescription pain relievers, so those are out and, because of another medication i have to take, I am limited to use only over-the-counter Tylenol.

WalnutCreek -- I hope you tried the Salonpas with the 4% Lidocaine. They make another type with some kind of hot/cold thing; that was a zero for me. I have Tylenol-4 prescribed by my oncologist. It's more codeine and less Tylenol, so I can TRY plain Tylenol first without going over the limit for Tylenol. I take the codeine one 2 or 3 times in 24 hours, although the script is 'every four hours'. I was concerned about addiction, but I've been taking it for nearly three years with no increase in use. I'm aspirin-sensitive; wish I could take that!

    georgysmom2 thanked chisue

I second the small size Salon Pas patches. Although I prefer the ones without Lidocaine. I think they operate more as an acu-pressure point than anything for me. I can put lotions with the same ingredients on and they do little. I tried the larger size and the hot type and they did little for my hip pain.

The mention of the knot now has me wondering if that is what the massage therapist's grabbing, lifting slightly, then rotating the butt cheek on the side of my hip that hurts as the last thing that was done was for. At the immediate time I was "what the" but I realized that the pain that was still there immediately after the massage was gone by the time I returned home. The shop has closed down so I will need to find another place when things are safer.

@chisue, yes, I did use the SalonPas with the 4% Lydocaine. Was so disappointed it did not work for me. Sadly, I am allergic to codeine, so can't take it or anything with codeine in it. @glenda_al, wish I could take the meloxicam, but no NSAIDs for me due to the heart medicine I take.

Wow, meloxicam sounds *dangerous*! (Neither WalnutCreek nor I could take it, though, due to the aspirin content.) Glad it helps YOU, Glenda!

My MIL suffered terribly with RA. Now I see a dozen meds advertised on TV -- irritates me to see pretty, young actresses pretending to have RA. I wonder if any of the meds really help. (Oops! Going way off-topic!)

I've been taking meloxicam, low dosage, for a number of years, off and on, as an anti inflammatory. No problem.

    How did the MRI go?

It was decided I didn't need it as x rays were sufficient. Same ole same ole! Physical therapy extended my sessions for another month, and I'm seeing progress.

    Thanks for asking.
