Check out the America's Colors Collection in BM's Color Preview fandeck. Ozark Shadows AC-26, Galveston Gray AC-27 and Winter Gates AC-30 are worth a look. If those are too true-gray, how about Shenandoah Taupe AC-36? From the Exterior colors (why don't they number these?? drives me crazy) you might also look at Briarwood in addition to Platinum and Cliffside. It's brownish - but that's what I think of when I think "putty", a brownish-gray. For what it's worth, the BM Classic Fandeck has some great colors, but the colors on the strips don't always relate to each other. Within the Color Preview collection, though, the colors on a strip are different strengths of the same hue, which can be helpful in trying to determine if a particular color will skew green, etc. I also like Stone Harbor 2111-50 and Taos Taupe 2111-40, both Color Preview colors.

The door was presented as an option by the contractor and showed us a brochure and spoke about how well made they were so we didn't get to see the height in person. Had the door been installed on subfloor this may not have come up....we'd only be seeing a 1 5/8" high threshold. I took a look and we are under the 2012 international codes and for sliding doors the max height was 7 3/4" to an exterior step I believe so I do think it is too high. I had a lot of faith and confidence in the contractor after seeing some of their previous work but now I'm very uneasy about a number of things that have been done. The siding is being replaced as well with hardie plank and they've installed trim boxes with j channel around penetrations and at a louver. Taking 2 secs to look up the hardie best practices I'm not so sure this is the best way to do this. They have a supplement instructions for installation around window j channel which I'm not sure was followed here but why would you introduce this situation intentionally??

Where do you live, in general? Do you get lots of snow? I would remove the overhang for sure. I would also remove the carport if possible, or perhaps reposition it to the left, although I can't see what is there past the left of your picture-looks like the concrete pad extends to the side which is where I would put the carport. If you do ask yardvaark (he does have terrific ideas), he will request a view from further out in order to see that part of the yard. If you can move the carport, then you could add a porch across the front of your home, although just adding landscaping across the front would be great.

I want to hide from this decision, can anyone help with my roofing choice? I really like the cedar but it is 25 years old and my dh says we are going asphalt. I am all over the place. I went down the rabbit hole of davinici only to find out it is $40K! I think the only character in the house IS the cedar roof and really am worried this change will devalue it. Anyone? We have to put new siding on afterward, should we outline the windows with white? The roofers are willing to bring the pergola out over the brick to make it more normal looking. I am leaning toward the weathered wood options. I can stain the brick with Nawkaw brick stain if you think I should. Can I go lighter on my siding? Any help would be much appreciated.
