Is this the entry door/front door - that I’ve marked with orange, here? If so, I would switch sofa to opposite wall, so you can see entry area, but without sofa being in entry path. So in other words, sofa is not in doorway - but from the sofa you can see entry and see when someone is coming in - and they are not coming in behind you, as it would be with the sofa placement in your diagram.

I am trying to understand the space. And to my eye, at least, the actual space - or what I can see of it - is not corresponding to the diagram. What is the door and area I have marked in purple? Is that the patio that you mention?

Also, some pics of your furniture would be helpful.

Which pieces in cherry do you have already? will there be a tv?

@freedomplace1 Your orange marking is the door and entry way. The entry way has an ugly tile flooring that I plan to use a rug to cover it. Your purple marking is the door that leads to the patio. The light switch is for the patio and living room is on the wall next to the patio door.

@everdebz I will eventually add a TV.

I plan to use the dining room as my office space. The desk color is black with shades of brown that matches my kitchen flooring.

Here are some new couches and accent chair I looked at. I thought about doing a sectional but realized it may be too big for the space and can't be used for a future place.

It will be more welcoming if your sofa is on the wall opposite the front entry. That will leave the other wall for TV (out of sight from the entry.) Your sofa and chair selections are nice.

Would you recommend adding a bench with some underneath storage and some pillows at the top?

I was also thinking of adding tall plants on the opposite ends of the center piece. And, a circle big mirror on the entry wall next to counter top. Then, a small console table behind the couch with some decor and lamps on top to move the couch off the wall.
