Ideas for Bedroom Wall?

Does anyone have a suggestion for what to put on the wall left of the bed? I think the leaning mirror I have there now is too small. How about a round mirror? I have a 32 inch round mirror that I like, but I think it's too small for this space. If I considered another round mirror, I'm thinking it would need to be at least 36" diameter. I would really appreciate any specific suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Is this a guest room or the master bedroom? Here is the interesting thing. In almost all rooms, there is almost always a focal wall that helps everything else in the room make sense. Yours for now, I cannot see the other two wall or what is on them or from where one enters the room is above your bed. You are well on your way. I would keep the wall you are considering for art etc... minimal or leave it blank and focus on the main wall. If you must absolutely have something on it as you mentioned the beautiful view outside, you can take your existing mirror and hang it at the right height horizontally (about the height of your two framed artworks but on the left wall).

Then take the two prints that you have and hang each one behind a table lamp about 2" above the night stands on each side. Find now, an interesting artwork that is sculptural. It can be linear but preferable not as everything else in the room is already linear. Something that has a relief. A nice trick is to look for space dividers with three panels that are interesting and would look great hung up. Try to find something unique and unexpected! Make sure it is big and bold, don't be shy and hang centered behind an over the headboard. The height of your table lamps are good, but you need lamp bases that are slimmer and have some colour. If a woman only sleeps in this bed, consider a mosquito net canopy that is pinned up high and centered but comes cascading down landing on either side of the headboard between it and the night table on either side. The night stand on the right side could have a few pocket books placed there as it sits empty right now.

I would love to see what you have going on, on the window wall? One last thing, the ceiling fan above your bed. If ever you are in a second hand store, look for the panels of this ceiling fan in white and replace your current ones. This will make them pop and will look nice with the two tones. One with dark brown wood would also look nice (not black though) but you would have to bring into the room and into the visual something that had the same wood colour into the picture!

What would the mirror reflect? Maybe leave it blank until you fine a nice BIG piece of art that you love.

I don’t know. It would depend on which photos you pick and what size they are, and if you want different shaped frames. Maybe what you finally choose would look best is 3 rectangular framed phot, in a vertical row. Or 4 squares arranged in one square on the wall. But maybe the types of photos you want for the wall would make you happiest in all different shaped Frames, either round or square or oval, one old fashioned or one pinned up with a ribboN. If you have some painters tape (and wash your hands :)) you can experiment with tape on the wall. Use 4 bits of tape to make the corners of one big “frame“ and see what size you like. Try making 2 frames. Cut a piece of paper into an oval and tape it up. That sort of thing. The design of your bedspread is like a picture frame and I think it might be nice if some or all of the frames had a design like what is on the bedspread

I would not give up living space for another bedroom down stairs. Converting the rec room to a bedroom is a better way to create a 3-bedroom house IMO, but there would be the issue of a bath for the converted bedroom.

Gcubed, thank you for the suggestion, but I think it would be challenging to find art that wouldn't clash with the existing art. A mirror would reflect the beautiful view we have outdoors.

Here's a panoramic of the other side of the room. It's dark outside so the shades are closed. The blinds on the door to the right of the windows are going to be changed to a a Roman shade.

I like that art on wall better than window. Do you sit in the chairs? You'll be staring at yourself if mirror is on the wall across. If you want a change, moving the 2 prints over your bed to behind the nightstand lamps would be nice. OR, move those 2 prints to the empty wall and get more vertical prints behind the lamps. I think the mirrored nightstands are enough "mirrors" in the space.

you also might consider 3 dimensional style art for that wall, maybe consider wall sconces that have battery powered lights for some ambiance, something like this. the wall is large and so needs a large statement IMO

I see. I would still keep the decor on the left wall minimal or blank, but if you wish to look at something when seated in the chairs next to your bed, the piece of art that you have, hang it on the horizontal on that left wall. Continue by placing the smaller pieces currently above your bed behind the table lamps, but the piece of sculptural art you will put in their place must be more imposing than that artwork on the left wall. They should NOT be competing with each other. Just be sure that when you come into the room, the sculptural work is what stands out.

Annouk33 and others, thank you for your input. I just had a very talented interior designer here today to look at my master bathroom for a remodeling estimate and asked her take a look at the bedroom. She likes the prints above the bed and suggested I keep the wall on the left of the bed bare just as you said, Annouk33. She pointed out that the three focal points when you walk in, in order, are the window area/view, the wall above the bed, and the wall across from the bed where I'll have my dresser and framed art above the dresser. So I guess I'll leave the wall bare!

I wouldn’t want to roll out of bed and be confronted with a sleepy, crabby, tousled version of myself about 3’ in front of my face. Or DH either. 🤪

I’m just catching up on this thread and not sure if anyone else mentioned this so here goes..why not take that vertical leaning mirror that you already have and hang it horizontally on that same wall. Then it will reflect the beautiful view you have of the outdoors!
