That is horrible! I can't imagine how hard it is for the owner to know what happened to their loved pet. I hope they are not try to sell the meat as beef.

Are you referring to the possible horse serial killer in the Houston area? This is horrifying, regardless of location. I know some friends of mine who are seriously concerned for their horses and are looking for more secure boarding right now.

If this is about the butchered horses in the Houston area, the accounts that I have read said that the front & hindquarters were also taken.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they weren't selling the meat. This was going on in the Miami area some time back. I wonder if the people who buy the meat, know it is horse meat.

I would be beside myself if this happened to one of my horses. Years ago, someone stole 2 of my horses. I found one 9 months later, but never found the other one. I looked for her for years.

In the olden days, they hanged horse thieves--maybe we should come up with a punishment not as severe as hanging, but one that would get their attention. Crime is rampant now because there are no consequences.

In our area, there have been several reports of cows being shot--they aren't butchering them, just killing them for "fun". People can be so sick.

Countries with lower poverty rates have lower crime rates. Punishment is not really a deterrent, but getting people out of poverty does help reduce crime. I have no idea what makes people mentally deranged, but I do doubt that there is a cure for this, other than incarceration, as many cannot be rehabilitated, although I think that it is worth trying.

Native Americans in the Great Plains used to kill their horses for food when they were hungry, but they did this as a last resort, as it made hunting more difficult for them.

My nephew in Texas shoots animals just to kill them, including songbirds😢. His wife also hunts. I keep my distance from them and do not communicate with them.

Crime is going up in many cities...and respect for law and order is going down in many of those same cities.

I can kill an animal that needs to be put down, but I kill nothing just for the sake of killing it....including snakes, wasps, spiders... exception would be roaches. I would be very uptight being around anyone who would kill something just for the sake of killing it. I lived around someone like that when I lived on the bayou. I am so glad to be away from that.

Lars, I don't understand people who would go out and shoot whatever animal or bird they come across. I certainly wouldn't call that hunting. I can understand hunting for food, or shooting predators to protect your family and livestock, but not senseless, random killing.

Lars, your relative is obviously unhinged. What normal person would kill any animal for the fun of it? Songbirds?Only a sociopath or a psychopath. Yesterday on the trail I met a fawn whose mother joined us and I stood there for ten minutes communicating with these gorgeous creatures. I wish the worse for your bloodthirsty relatives.
